Accountable: Reach for Truth

There’s nothing more effective than a team that moves and acts as one unit. The teams where each player knows his or her role and embraces it, where coaches unify their players to play for the bigger picture and the field is full of a relaxed and confident atmosphere. These teams know their purpose and give their best for one another.

The same can be said for the importance of finding teammates in our daily faith walk. We need to come alongside each other to stand firm on the foundation of God, build one another up and be unified in Christ.

As Scripture and prayer are pivotal pieces to a life in Christ, accountability is also key. It keeps us connected to people, strengthens our resolve in trying times and brings encouragement when we are down.

We need others who can call us to God’s higher standard and walk with us along the way.

Where do you coach? I currently coach Football at Olympia High School outside of Stanford, IL
How long have you coached? I have been coaching for over 6 years now.
What is your primary sport to coach? My primary sport to coach is baseball.
How long have you been involved in FCA? I have been involved with FCA since my Sophomore year of high school dating back to 2007.
Why/How did you get involved in FCA? In the summer of 2007, I went to my first FCA leadership camp in Seward, NE at Concordia University.
How has FCA helped you to know and grow in Christ? During my first camp, I was challenged in my faith by the Pastor. In his simple question, "Can you explain the Gospel in under 60 seconds", I realized that I really did not know Jesus Christ. That event sparked a desire to know the Father in every aspect of my life.
What legacy do you hope to leave as a coach? The legacy I hope to leave as a coach is one that displays Christ as a husband, father, teacher, coach, neighbor, and friend.
What is your favorite Bible verse? "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men" ~ Colossians 3:23

How long have you been involved in FCA? I have been involved with FCA going on 4 years now.
Why/How did you get involved in FCA? I got involved with FCA because I wanted to gain a closer relationship with Christ.
How has FCA helped you to know and grow in Christ? FCA has helped me grow in Christ because it has shown me a whole new connection to Him. It has shown me that I can connect with Christ through sports, and that I can spread His word through my actions.
What legacy do you hope to leave as an athlete? I hope to leave the legacy of an athlete who was not only one of the greatest at her sport but also the greatest at playing her sport through Christ. I want to show others that you don't need to make a separate time or part of your day dedicated to God. You can do it anytime of the day through your sports, actions, and in the classroom. It's not all about going to church every Sunday or setting aside 10 minutes of your day to pray. You can show Christ through your sport by how you play and the way carry yourself.
What is your favorite Bible verse? "But the Lord stood with me and gave me strength." ~ 2 Timothy 4:17

Transformation: Prayer Conforms

If our standard is to be the best in our sport, we should also set a standard to be at our best spiritually. As we have certain athletes we look up to at the top of their game, we also have the perfect example for our spiritual lives: Jesus Christ.
