Message from the Principal

Dear DHS Staff, Students, and Families,
This weekend, we join one another in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. With that said, before this weekend, during homeroom on Friday, September 10, we will also come together as a school community to acknowledge the anniversary of 9/11 and have a moment of silence to honor the victims and to pay tribute to their families, the first responders, volunteers, military personnel, and every individual impacted by this horrific event. Whether a memory lived or history learned,
While various classes have plans to discuss 9/11, there are also opportunities to engage in conversation or reflection at home. Students and families may benefit from visiting the 9/11 Memorial & Museum website, which has numerous resources, including a webinar for students, available on-demand beginning on Friday, September 10. Participants will learn about 9/11 through personal stories from 9/11 family members Cait Leavey, Brielle Saracini, and John Spade, first responders from the FDNY and PAPD, and a student on 9/11, and ask questions through a live chat with Museum staff.
"Despite our shared grief in the aftermath of 9/11, hope, resilience, and unity lifted us up as a nation. Twenty years later, these lessons are more important than ever." - 9/11 Memorial and Museum
Sincerely,
Principal Kathryn Anderson

Although we are no longer requiring the health screener to be submitted each morning, all students are still required to screen themselves daily at home for any COVID-like symptom development before reporting to school.
Students experiencing any COVID symptoms as defined by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) should not report to school.
In the event experiencing any COVID symptoms, please call the attendance office to report the absence and provide details regarding the COVID symptoms. Please contact the health services office with any questions.
