FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK

March 4, 2022

Greetings “Tiger’ Students and Families,

We have worked so hard as a “Tiger” community to persevere through this pandemic and mask requirements are about to shift on Friday March 11, 2022. This will be another learning and adjustment experience for all of us, but we will continue to be respectful, understanding, patient, and caring for our fellow “Tigers” our staff, families, friends, and community. Some adults and students may choose to continue wearing a mask and some may choose not to wear a mask. As your principal, I will continue to have a mask in my possession, and I will be happy to honor request by others who feel more comfortable interacting with me while I wear a mask. It is my hope and expectation that we work together and assure that we all have success moving forward.

Please be sure to read closely each addition of LCNYCU as we feature upcoming events, performances, and highlights. We want to make sure you are informed of the many amazing things taking place at Lewis and Clark High School.

Reminder to parents/guardians: Please check PowerSchool regularly to help support the progress of your student. If you need to contact me, a teacher, counselor, or another member of my administrative team, you can find our contact information on our Lewis and Clark website. I encourage you to reach out to any of us at any time. Your student’s education, safety, and well-being are very, very important to us.

Enjoy your weekend and “Go Tigs”

Mr. Corley

Principal

Registration

As second semester begins, we also begin the process of registering for the 2022-2023 school year! Here is the process:

  • Advisory lessons - Core Classes, Elective Classes, and PowerSchool Registration presentations
  • 8th Grade Parent Night presentation video.
  • Any students who were absent for registration this week will be called down to the office next week to register.
  • These course selections are just in draft form and there will be time throughout the spring and summer for students to make adjustments.
  • As soon as the system allows, we'll also open up the courses to be viewed in PowerSchool so students can see how their schedule is being generated. Please know that we make changes up until the last minute before school begins, so periods and teachers will change many times as we balance classes and adjust the master schedule.
  • Due to the complexity of the master schedule and the limitations of PowerSchool, we cannot promise specific teachers or periods.
  • Please email your child's counselor or Theresa Meyer if you have any questions.

PARKING.png

Student and Parent/Visitor Parking

Parent/Visitor Parking: LC does not have designated visitor parking, so you can park at any of the metered spots across the street. For after-hours events, you can park for free in any of the parking lots under the freeway. The doors to the Commons building are handicap accessible.

Student Drop-off/Pick-Up: Before and after school, 4th Avenue in front of LC is a busy place with school buses and parents competing for limited space. In order to help alleviate congestion, we recommend that parents drop off and pick up students either on 5th Avenue, 3rd Avenue or a block east or west of LC on 4th Avenue. It is important to not park (even for a drop off) in the bus zones.

Student Parking: LC students can park in the two freeway lots (in front of the Field House and in front of the church to the east). Be sure to display your student parking permit to avoid getting a ticket in the student lots. Student parking permits can be purchased in the Business Office for $5. The lot directly in front of the main building and the parking garage are only for LC staff and are monitored for cars without staff permits.
