BIRTHDAY TREATS REMINDER
Due to COVID safety precautions, please do not send in edible birthday treats. Students may bring a non-edible item to celebrate such as pencils, stickers, or erasers. Birthday books may also be purchased for the school library to honor a birthday. A bookplate is placed in the book noting the student’s and donor’s names. Please contact the school librarian, Mrs. Cooper at mcooper@fairview.k12.oh.us if you would like more information.
FATHER'S WALK
This year’s Cuyahoga County Father’s Walk will be Thursday, September 23, 2021.

When men are involved in the educational lives of their child(ren), they perform better in school.

We would like to encourage fathers, stepfathers, foster fathers, grandfathers, uncles, brothers, godfathers, cousins, and other significant male caregivers to take their child(ren) to school and join other families to celebrate the importance of a positive male model in the lives of children.

NEWS FROM THE FAMILY AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT CENTER
Hello Fairview Park Families!!!

I hope everyone is doing well settling into the routine of school again!
Last week, I touched on sleep, setting up a schedule and setting up communication with the school. This week I want to share some resources that I think will help with the start of the school year -

1) National PTA resources - has resources and information on COVID, podcasts, Parents' Guides to student success (listed by grade level- what your child will be learning this coming year and how you can help at home), Family Guides (how to help your child get set up to be successful in school - homework, studying, taking tests, etc), Special education information and College and Career readiness.

2) Common Sense Media - I LOVE this site!!! What movies are appropriate for my child to watch? Which books would be good for my child? How much time should I allow my child to play video games or be on screens? ALL of that information and more is on here. PLUS....Parents Ultimate Guide to Social Media stuff.
Please check this out! Great tool to reduce family arguments!!:)

I must end with a plug to please join our Fairview Park PTAs as well as get involved with their monthly meetings!! Great group of child and school advocates!! Fairview Park PTA.

Have a great week!
Ms. Carrie Sulliavan
