GENERAL
FREE BREAKFAST AND LUNCH
Curbside pickup of a free breakfast and lunch is available 7:30 am to 1:00 pm Monday through Friday. Come to the Gate 3 entrance before Basswood where the line forms outside the gym. This program is open to any student 18 and under and recipients do not need to be enrolled in PVPUSD. No pre-order required. All meals include an entrée, choice of milk and seasonal fruit and vegetables. Menus are at pvpusdschoolnutrition.net.
FORBIDDEN BROADWAY
Peninsula Drama is having its first ever virtual musical, Forbidden Broadway. If you want to be a part of this, audition videos and stage crew applications are due Tuesday, Feb. 23. All the cast and crew information is available at peninsuladrama.com or email Mr. Cohen at [email protected]. Get involved and have fun!
PAL-ENTINE DAY
Hey 9th graders! Link Crew is hosting a fun filled meetup for all freshmen this Thursday, Feb. 11 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. There will be breakout rooms for games like Minecraft, Pictionary and more. Another room gives advice to help you choose your sophomore classes and a different room for watching Shrek! You'll be entered into a raffle for some sweet prizes just by coming to the meeting with your camera on. Stop by for a few minutes or stay the whole time. Bring your friends and meet new ones. CAPS & GOWNS
Seniors may place orders for graduation caps and gowns, class rings, and letterman jackets online. Click here to download the brochure which includes additional details and the order form. NOTE: if you order the basic package, which includes cap, gown, tassel and medallion, the cost is $40 plus tax and processing fee. It is in the green section of the order form under "Senior Pride" and is listed as "Cap and Gown Unit." If you purchase this unit, you keep the cap, gown, tassel and medallion. Students may also use a loaner gown, cap, medallion at no cost. To use the loaner package, which is paid for by our school, fill out the form here by Monday, Feb. 15, 2021. If you choose the loaner package, all items must be returned to Peninsula following the graduation ceremony. Orders may be placed at moongradservices.com.
SENIOR PORTRAITS
If you have not had your senior picture taken, upload a portrait to eShare with the school code 7435 so it may be placed in the yearbook. Deadline to submit is this Friday, Feb. 12. Follow the detailed instructions for taking a portrait here.
KRISPY KREME DONUTS
Indulge your sweet tooth and support the PV Drama Boosters when you order a dozen Krispy Kreme donuts now through Friday, Feb. 19. Pickup will be on Saturday, Feb. 27 from 8:00 to 11:00 am in front of the gym. You may order or get more information by clicking here.
FOOD & FUNDS
Enjoy some Hawaiian food and help the PTSA at the same time on Sunday, Feb. 14 from 11:00 to 3:00. Come to Big Island Eats at the Promenade, mention the PTSA when you place your order and a percentage of your total will be donated to our PTSA. Big Island Eats is owned by a Peninsula High family.

PTSA BOOK CLUB
Meet with Panther families to discuss The Color of Law at the first PTSA Book Club meeting this Saturday, Feb. 13 from 9:00 to 10:30 am on Zoom. The Color of Law details how federal housing policies in the 1940s and 1950s mandated segregation and hindered Black families from buying their own homes. Shereen Walter, Director of Legislation for the state PTA and Carol Kocivar, past president of the California PTA and current legislative advocate are the guest facilitators. Register here.
P.E.F. DRAWINGS
Support the Peninsula Education Foundation with a donation of $1,500 or more and you will be entered into monthly drawings for a prize. February's prize is dinner for two at Arthur J in Manhattan Beach and a bottle of Dom Perignon. Go to pvpef.org to donate.
A.I. SUMMER SCHOOL
AI Scholars Live Online is a 10 session, pre-college enrichment program that exposes 9th to 12th grade students to fundamental AI concepts. Taught by a team of Stanford graduate students, each participant receives a personalized learning experience with a student-teacher ratio of 4:1. There are multiple dates open for both the spring semester and summer school programs. Students may apply here by February 15 for the spring semester and learn more by perusing the brochure. COUNSELING
COURSE SELECTIONS 2021-2022
Students need to log into their Aeries accounts to make their course requests for the 2021-2022 school year. The portal opens TODAY and closes Friday, Feb. 19. Some of your classes may have already been added following recommendations from your teachers. These classes may not be removed by students, but you may select a different course. If you do not meet the prerequisite (review the Course Description Handbook for prerequisites), then you must submit a Request for Placement form and submit it to your counselor by May 28.

Counselors will meet individually with each student. Courses must be entered into the Aeries student portal and the scheduling form completed before the counselor meetings take place. FRESHMEN will be seen through their English class March 8 to 19. SOPHOMORES are being seen through the sophomore counseling program which will take place throughout the spring semester. JUNIORS will be seen through their English class February 22 to March 5.
If you are planning to take Summer School, please review this link. The link will give you access to information about PVPSS, out of district forms, online schools that are A-G and NCAA as well as information about community college courses and dual enrollment. The deadline for these forms to be returned to counselors is May 28.

COLLEGE ESSENTIALS TOOLKIT SERIES
"Show Me the Money: Tips, Secrets and Strategies to Get More Money for College" is the topic for the next College Essential Toolkit virtual series on Tuesday, Feb. 9 at 6:30 pm. Ms. Stephanie Hancock, founder of College Aid Consulting, will review various aspects of financial aid.
