Shifting Transportation Webinar

In recent years, agencies across Minneapolis have set ambitious goals in climate, mobility, land use and community justice. Underpinning these goals is the necessity to rebalance our transportation system so that options other than driving are naturally encouraged.

Transportation Demand Management (TDM) refers to a wide range of strategies that make the most efficient use of the transportation system by making travel options like transit, biking, and ridesharing more flexible, apparent, and convenient.

Join us to hear from agency experts to learn all about their strategies and goals to rebalance our transportation system.

When: November 1st, 12:30pm - 1:30pm CST

Well Done, Twin Cities:

Car-Free MSP 2023 a Huge Success!

Car-Free MSP is a regional campaign that encourages individuals to explore sustainable options for trips where they would typically drive alone. The campaign included a pledge to replace one driving trip with a sustainable choice in the month of September, resources, events, and a celebration of World Car-Free Day on September 22nd. While the 2023 Car-Free MSP campaign has now drawn to a close, the small changes made a lasting big difference.

Over the month of September 1,194 people across the Minneapolis-St Paul region pledged to choose sustainable transportation for at least one trip instead of driving alone.

Using an average round trip distance of 7 miles, the estimated impact of 1,194 pledges saves 8,023 pounds of carbon. That’s the equivalent of what 167 mature trees can absorb in one year!

Carpool Perks

Perks galore when you carpool! Carpoolers get to ride in the EZ-Pass lanes for free and have preferred parking at the ABC Ramps. Never worry about being stuck with the Guaranteed Ride Home program. And, according to Angie and Jana (pictured below), it is a lot more fun driving with a friend.

Contact ABC Ramps Mobility Hub for information on the $20 monthly carpool parking rate.

New Guide for Bikes on the Bus

The size, shape, and utility of bicycles have transformed tremendously in the last ten years. Fat tire, cargo bikes, e-bikes, and electric scooters have become hugely popular. But how about bringing that new e-bike on an express bus downtown during the morning commute?

Until recently, it wasn’t clear which bikes and scooters could be transported on area buses and trains. To end the confusion and encourage riders to use transit, Metro Transit has updated their guide for transporting bicycles and scooters on buses, Micro, light rail, and commuter rail. The new guide demonstrates what is and is not allowed on all types of transit.
