Lakesider Willy Sommervil Continues Work in Haiti
Elizabeth Fantozzi
Marketing & Public Relations Manager

If you are familiar with Lakeside, you have probably seen Willy Sommervil around the grounds cheerfully greeting people and busy at work with his painting and pressure washing business, Willy Worry Not.

Sommervil has been a part of the Lakeside community for 36 years, but grew up near Gressier, a remote mountaintop village in Haiti.

After working nine years for an American Protestant missionary in Haiti and over four years with the United States Coast Guard as a translator, he left Haiti in 1986 to pursue new opportunities in the States. He was invited to Lakeside by the missionary he worked for in Haiti and liked the area so much he decided to settle here. Click here to read more.
Good Things Take Time: Cottage Rental Update
We are grateful for the patience cottage owners and rental guests have granted us as we transition the Lakeside Chautauqua Cottage Rental process and software. If 2020 taught us anything, it was to plan wisely but hold loosely to those plans and react swiftly when challenges arise. From holiday postal delays, staffing transitions, to phone system updates and technology difficulties, our timeline for moving to our new rental platform is not what we had hoped.

We realize that is frustrating for our cottage owners and rental guests alike. We have addressed the challenges as they have presented themselves and are on track to have our system online in March. Members of our hospitality team are working daily to respond to phone and email inquiries. If you are a cottage owner or are looking for a cottage to rent, please reach out to us but with the understanding that we will not be fully functional in our reservation process until the new system is operational.

We are committed to providing an excellent cottage rental experience for our guests and cottage owners. We appreciate your continued patience with our transition to a system and processes that enable us to provide the customer service our guests and partners deserve.

Please contact Cottage Rentals Director, Lisa Redett, at (419) 798-4461 ext. 348 or cottagerentals@lakesideohio.com with questions and concerns.

Elizabeth Fantozzi

Whether it’s building a headquarters beside the Lakeside Women’s Club or collecting popsicle sticks to build a ship to sail to Kelley’s Island, the Guys’ Club is workin’ on it.

After 20 years of leading the Guys’ Club, longtime Lakesider and Guys’ Club creator Richard Swanson is stepping down.

“The Guys’ Club takes credit for everything positive that has happened in Lakeside over the past 20 years,” Swanson joked. “The Guys’ Club is a big reason why Lakeside is the great community it is today!” Click here to read more.
