During the holiday season, we recognize that emotions can swirl like snowflakes. This month, we expanded our life-changing mental health services to reach our unhoused community members across Tarrant County. This has included outreach events alongside the Arlington Police Department Behavioral Health Law Enforcement Unit and services within True Worth Place, a comprehensive resource center and day shelter in Fort Worth for guests currently experiencing homelessness.
Every Monday, we lead an open Resiliency Group at True Worth Place. Here, we dive into understanding emotions, identifying stressors, practicing healthy coping skills, and nurturing hope even in the darkest moments. It's a space where resilience blossoms and the strength of the human spirit shines.
The holiday season amplifies the significance of our work. It's a time that underscores the crucial need for understanding, empathy, and mental health support when emotions run high.
❄️This week, we crafted snowflakes to symbolize our unique experiences and discussing how quickly snow passes, just like our feelings. We encouraged attendees to write on their snowflakes—expressing emotions, whether heavy as a blizzard or filled with hope. One attendee shared, "Blessed. Happiness. Laughter. Hope." These words encapsulate the essence of our collective efforts.❄️
Together, let's foster a sense of community that extends compassion beyond the warmth of shelter. As we lead these groups at True Worth Place, may our efforts remind us all that, like a snowfall, change is inevitable, and brighter days are ahead. In this season of giving, let's give the gift of understanding, empathy, and hope.
