COVID Notifications & Updates:
January 14, 2022
Dear SMCS Parents,

Thank you so much for your continued support. Nurse Diaz and I appreciate all your help keeping our students and staff safe at school and learning in person.

Because the new variant of COVID seems to be highly contagious, we are going to start sending out our COVID notifications and updates weekly on Fridays. We will continue to notify anyone with close contact as the positive cases occur, but the number of positive cases on campus will only be shared on Fridays.

For the week of January 10, 2022, we have had six lab-confirmed COVID cases on campus. All individuals with close contact/exposure were notified.

As part of our safety protocols, Nurse Diaz and I ask that you continue to watch for symptoms of COVID-19 in your children.

Any of the following symptoms indicate a possible COVID-19 infection:

  • Temperature of 100.0 degrees Fahrenheit or higher.
  • Sore throat
  • New uncontrolled cough that causes difficulty breathing (or, for students with a chronic allergic/asthmatic cough, a change in their cough from baseline).
  • Diarrhea, vomiting, or abdominal pain; or
  • New onset of severe headache, especially with a fever.

If any member of the St. Michael Catholic School community begins experiencing any of these symptoms in a way that is not typical, we encourage you to contact your physician.

Based on the current conditions in the City of Houston and Harris County, we are going to continue requiring masks at this time. We will review this decision weekly.

Our thresholds to return to masks recommended are listed in our COVID Protocols which are available here.

Thank you again for your continued support. Please stay safe and healthy.

Blessings,
Dr. Cox and Nurse Diaz
