Parent Discussion on Student Well-Being with Randi Peterson

Please join your Puesta del Sol PTA and Bellevue School District leader, Randi Peterson, for an evening discussion about Student Well-Being. Randi is our district Social and Emotional Learning Curriculum Developer and she will be talking not only about the SEL curriculum we use at Puesta del Sol, but will be providing resources and links to help you grow and develop your parenting skills. She has years of experience and she brings with her a passion for children's health and a creative mind ready to help find solutions. Our PTA hopes this group discussion to be one of the first of several this year as we grow our community with compassion.

PTA's Annual Fall Pumpkin Bash

The air is crisp and fall is here. We know that means Pumpkin Bash is also near! This year, our event will center around two crowd favorites: The Trunk or Treat and the Dance Hall with DJ Howie! For those needing a quiet activity, we will have a movie playing (weather permitting).

Come and show us your amazing trunks, costumes, and moves on Friday, October 27th in Puesta del Sol’s gym and back staff parking lot from 6-8pm. Please remember no masks or weapons.

Admission to this event is free. Food and treats will be available for purchase by suggested donation.

Please remember, Pumpkin Bash is not a drop-off event.

Where will I park? The Puesta del Sol parking lot fills up quickly. We ask families to avoid parking on 151st for our events. For additional parking, please park at the Church of the Resurrection at 15220 Main St - just a quick few minutes' walk away from the school. Please only park in the North and West lots, not in front of the apartment buildings. There will also be overflow parking available in Hopelink for the evening of our event.

There is also a walking trail that connects 150th PL NE and Puesta del Sol. See our Traffic and Parking Information page for detailed information.

Please also remember our campus cannot accommodate pets. If you arrive with animals, we will have to ask you to take them home.

Hispanic Latinx Heritage Month

Puesta del Sol students and staff kicked off this HLH month with a special assembly featuring Danza Azteca on Friday, September 15. From September 15 to October 15 (and throughout the whole year!) we celebrate the histories, cultures and contributions of those whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.

Expected Traffic Delays Near School

Heads up, Puesta del Sol Community! There will be extra traffic delays on Main St. near the school in early October and in mid-November. The city is removing trees and updating irrigation systems on the medians. Please allow for additional time picking-up and dropping off students. School Library Assistants Needed

Our school librarians, Sra. Brody and Sra. Newman, need extra hands in the library! Sign up to help during your students' regular library class time, right after morning drop-off, or another time that works for your schedule. Art Appreciation Volunteer Meeting

Tuesday, October 24th @ 9:15AM in-person at Puesta del Sol in the STE(A)M room and virtual meeting option at 7pm (link will be sent to volunteers)

Who is feeling crafty??

We are looking for two Art Appreciation volunteers for every K-5 classroom. This is often the favorite volunteer opportunity for parents! It is a special way to be involved in the classroom each month and the students get SO excited for Art Appreciation days. Volunteers help plan and teach a monthly art lesson in their child's class. We encourage people to team up with other parents. Interested? Sign-up with your child's classroom teacher during curriculum night and email artappreciation@puestadelsolpta.org.

On Tuesday, October 24th, we will have a volunteer meeting to go over supplies, lesson ideas, budget and volunteer guidelines. There will be a 9:15am in-person meeting in the STE(A)M room at the school and a virtual meeting option that evening at 7pm. We are hoping to have all volunteer spots filled prior to the meeting, so sign up now!

Walkathon - thank you + survey

A BIG THANK YOU to the more than 130 parent and student volunteers, the Puesta del Sol PTA, Principal Danelle, Vice Principal Aishla and our wonderfully supportive teachers and staff who helped to make this beloved event a success. ¡Muchas gracias!

Collectively, 351 of our students completed 7,740 laps (774 miles!) and so far have raised over $16,000 in pledges. Awards will be handed out to the top walkers in each grade at a school assembly later this fall.

Welcome, New Board Members!

Welcome to our newest PTA Board Members, Jackie Zawalski and Alice Kim! Alice and Jackie will be joining Stephanie Parkins as Co-Directors for Ed Enhancement. Alice will be helping with in-school Ed Enhancement Programs like Passport, Spanish Immersion Through the Arts, the Amity Program, and Art Appreciation. Jackie will be taking the lead on Before and After School Programs like Drama Kids, Fiesta Latina, GOALS Soccer, and more. Stephanie will be working behind the scenes to assist the Board and her Co-Directors. Learning Spotlight: #IKnowMyFullName

This month, Puesta del Sol students are learning and practicing the standard of “I show respect” in lessons connected with the book En Realidad, es Jeferson/Yefferson, Actually by Katherine Trejo. It is a story about a young El Salvadoran boy who, with the support of his family, finds the courage to correct everyone that says his name wrong. One School, Many Stories

The display case outside the 2nd grade pod is now a rotating space for families to share their culture, heritage, traditions and more!
