Fayetteville Residents Will See a Proposed City of Fayetteville Charter Amendment When They Go to the Polls on November 8th

The Fayetteville City Council is currently comprised of 9 single-member districts and a mayor. Under the proposed City of Fayetteville Charter Amendment, four of the nine single-member district seats would be converted to four at-large seats.

This would result in five single-member districts, four at-large seats, and the mayor.

This change would allow Fayetteville citizens to vote for a total of six council members versus the current two council members they can vote for today.

Nine out of twelve of NC’s largest cities have at-large representatives in their structure as well as the Cumberland County Board of Commissioners, the Cumberland County Board of Education, and the towns of Hope Mills and Spring Lake.
