COLORWALL RESET DETAILS
In 2022 and 2023 Lowe's will be replacing the Color Chip racks with a new 32' Colorwall and Paint Department of the Future set. 986 stores will be reset in 2022. The remainder of stores will be set in 2023. The new-look rack will enhance the Lowe’s Customer Paint Department Experience with improved lighting, color collections, new colors, new format color chips, new sizing, QR codes, and new color brochures. Every inch of the rack has undergone thoughtful review, consideration, and diligence.

Highlights of the reset:

95 stores completed in January.

Two hundred eighty-nine stores (289) will be completed between February – April.

Third-party labor will complete the reset overnight. All fixtures, lighting, color chips, and brochures will be completed.

The resets are scheduled for up to 10 days based on movement. Gather information from the reset lead on the night of the Colorwall reset.

The Colorwall will take one overnight to build and set.

Third-party labor is required to fill color chips as part of the initial set.

Select stores will receive a new paint desk area.

All stores will have the Colorwall on one side, and Applicators/Purdy will move forward.

A new Chip App will be required to replenish color chips and brochures

It is our chance to make a great FIRST IMPRESSION!
We must keep the stores set up for success!

WHAT RIGHT LOOKS LIKE

When we leave the store are the:

  • 2 extra packs of fast-moving chips on hand

Have you shared with the Paint Department Supervisor how they
are organized and where they can find the fastest moving chips
and cards?

Communicate with Lowe's store associates on the extra
inventory of color chips, color brochures, and selling aids

Ensure associates have the authority to maintain the look of the ColorWall
FINDING COLOR CHIPS

You will notice the color chips are not aligned in order of the Color Chip Number. This is on purpose for aesthetics and customer trends. The easiest way to find a Color Chip is via the Chip Locator tool.

CHIP LOCATOR TOOL

This tool is accessed by the QR code on the Color Wall. Once accessed enter the Color Name. The tool will point to the exact location of the Chip on the Colorwall. Access to the Chip Locator tool is via any Smart Device.

HGSW COLOR CHIPS

The Color Chip names are located in the middle of the chip. The placement of the name in middle is due to two types of stores left-handed, and right-handed. Prior HGTV chips were located on the right side only. See picture.

In the spring of 2022, an online platform will be released by Innovative Marketing.

All replacement parts, and lighting will ordered via the online platform
COMMON ISSUES
While most resets are completed on time, with no issues, I wanted to outline a few problems that have come up
 
Old color center removal – the reset must be completed by 3PL in one night. In some cases, reset teams are removing the old color centers one night ahead, leaving no color chips for a day. Solution: Communicate with the MST manager that color chips are required to sell paint. Removing the old color centers a day or days ahead will affect the sales of the paint department. The reset requirements are listed in the project details by Lowe's.
 
The 3PL vendor doesn't show as scheduled – The 3PL vendor must communicate schedule changes (Covid) with stores – MST. Solution: If contact is not made, the MST manager or MST District Manager should contact the Lowe's Project Manager and Project Analyst for updates.
 
Rack not completed, parts missing, items broken – The 3PL has the direct line of Innovative Marketing for assistance and to order any missing parts. The shipping pallets of the Colorwall are checked multiple times by a QA team at Innovative before leaving the facility. In many cases, parts are missing due to a misplaced box. Solution: ask MST or 3PL to review their work area for a misplaced item. 3PL or MST can contact Innovative Marketing for replacement parts. I will review your survey answers and order them IF NEEDED with Innovative. Installation of replacement parts is by 3PL or MST.
 
Color Chips not filled – 3PL has bid the project to include chip filling labor by the 3PL vendor. Solution: Communicate to MST Manager - Chip Filling for the new Colorwall reset is not the job of the SSR. The only chips an SSR should fill are Flex Space per directions on best practices.

OVERHEAD BANNER
Please check to ensure the overhead banner is installed correctly. The banner should not have creases or gaps. See below picture.

3PL should watch the overhead banner installation YouTube video, viewable via QR code scan. (See page 30 of the instructions.)
