A Note From Our CEO

Dear Friends of Read to a Child,

As 2023 comes to a close, I wanted to take the opportunity to express my deep

gratitude and appreciation for all of the generous support that Read to a Child has received this year. A heartfelt thank you to all of our donors, volunteers, school partners, board members and staff. Thanks to you, we are bringing our vital Read Aloud Mentoring Program to students who need it most.

2023 has been a year of growth, as we expand our program to reach more students and welcome new school partners. We have added new members to our regional and national boards, along with many new, generous funding partners. Our program staff have been working diligently to train and equip our mentors with diverse book titles and read-aloud skills, while ensuring that we have the capacity to reach every student we can with high quality programming. Concurrently, our development staff have been eliciting amazing levels of financial support for the organization, including our recent Week of Inspiration fundraiser which significantly exceeded our ambitious $200,000 goal. Finally, a note of thanks to our finance, operations and human resources staff who maintain our operational efficiency, ensure that we hire and deploy our best assets (our people) and enable donors to know their support is being wisely utilized. All of this effort has enabled Read to a Child to, once again, attain Platinum Transparency status from Candid and 4-stars from Charity Navigator. I am honored to work for such a professional organization that garners widespread support and extremely pleased to work with my passionate, mission-driven colleagues.

So, I am filled with gratitude for all who have made 2023 such a successful year for Read to a Child and send warm wishes to all for a happy and healthy holiday season, and joy & peace in the new year.

Most sincerely,

Paul Lamoureux
