I would like to personally take this time to thank you for your participation in this council. You are here because we believe in who you are and what you have to contribute as parents/families of and on behalf of our young learners.

 

As a result of your unanimous vote on the Parent and Family Engagement Policy last month, we are able to finalize it for the current school year. You can find it posted at the footer of the District webpage at any time.

 

We would also like to invite you to participate as a volunteer at our next Food Distribution which will be held at Lanier HS on October 21, 2023, located at 1514 W. Cesar Chavez Blvd. 78207.

The mission of the Office of Family and Community Engagement is to successfully develop and implement programs and strategies to engage parents and the community as partners to continually improve the academic performance of students.


We are able to achieve our mission by:


  1. Building capacity across all campuses and
  2. Providing direct support and services to families and the community.

SAISD Survey Review

As a member of DPAC, one of the duties includes reviewing and providing feedback on any external surveys being requested to be conducted with students. This month, the following requests have been submitted to the district. Please click the button below to review each survey, provide any edits/suggestions, or approve the survey for administration.

  • Dr. Roberto Trevino - Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) (The Social and Health Research Center)

*** The survey below was reviewed at the September 21 DPAC meeting. It was not approved pending parents’ concerns/suggestions and asked that it be sent to the requestor for modifications, then revisit the study.


The Research Request Committee met on September 27 to review the research request and it was denied; the POC is not interested in the study. The student survey will be denied by default of the research not being approved.


  • Jennifer Poulos β€“ STEM Career Interest Survey (Math and Technology subscales only) (Abt Associates)

Currently, there is no update for the following surveys. The Data Operations & Services department is in the process of meeting with the district point of contact.

San Antonio Independent School District, in partnership with the San Antonio Food Bank, is hosting drive-through food distribution events throughout the District to help SAISD families in need.


Distribution is on a first come, first served basis, while supplies last.
