Superintendent's Notes

Greetings Wabash and New South Conferences.

"They understood the times and knew what Israel should do."

You may recognize this verse from 1 Chronicles 12:32 in a description of the people of Issachar. The people of the tribe of Issachar were said to have been deeply intuitive people. Tribe of Issachar

They were people of manual labor who stayed connected with the times in which they lived and with the God who supersedes the times.

I want to be like this!

I was recently speaking with a friend about how some people in our churches begin well but then age poorly. I could name some names, but that wouldn't be helpful!

One particular man I know helped to plant a church in his youth, but then became one of the controlling members of the church as he aged. His faith soured over the years from new wine to old vinegar. He stood against anything new in the church because of his past successes and influence.

My friend and I both committed to each other that we would fight with all we had within us to not turn into "problem people" as we age!

I hope you don't either!
