ADVANCING CHILDREN AND FAMILIES TOGETHER: THE TWO-GENERATION (2GEN) FRAMEWORK OVERVIEW – Video
Ascend at the Aspen Institute provides the what, why, who, and how of two-generation (2Gen) approaches and showcases examples of those leading the national movement to improve the well-being of families. Advancing Children and Families Together: The Two-Generation Framework Overview is for people newer to the 2Gen approach and designed to be used as a resource for professionals working with families. 2021 NORTH CAROLINA RURAL HEALTH SNAPSHOT Report
The NC Rural Health Leadership Alliance released the 2021 North Carolina Rural Health Snapshot. It is an advocacy resource that examines state-specific health indicators to demonstrate the significant disparity in access to quality health care between people living in rural areas of North Carolina and the rest of the state. The 2021 North Carolina Rural Health Snapshot aims to identify opportunities for North Carolina to improve how the health system serves its rural population. Use the report to open discussions with health and community leaders, and to develop collaborative solutions to increase the opportunities for health and wellness in rural communities. Learn more.
PRINCIPLES FOR TAKING ACTION ON RACIAL JUSTICE Guide
Community Food Strategies uses 10 racial equity principles, developed by Dismantling Racism Works (dRworks). These principles are a vital part of creating more equitable food systems and support the process of assessing and shifting organizational culture towards anti-racism. The guide provides explanations and suggested steps to integrate each principle into your organization’s food council work. Use the guide to create relationships outside of your organization, engage in difficult conversations, and encourage intentional action around anti-racism. Learn more.

Race Forward’s first intergenerational event is being designed by youth and young adult activists and will highlight the critical role they play as advocates using organizing, art, cultural, narrative, and policy strategies to strike powerful blows to structural racism and continue the global movement to defend Black lives. Participate in the conference for thought-provoking and solutions-driven intergenerational dialogues focusing on topics such as youth organizing, media justice, skill sharing for organizing, and racial justice intersections. THE ROOT CAUSE COALITION 6TH NATIONAL SUMMIT ON THE SOCIAL DETERMINANTS OF HEALTH
October 4-6 – Virtual
The agenda for this year’s National Summit will bring together representatives from health care, community and faith-based organizations, researchers, government leaders, educators and businesses to share best practices, offer community connections and resources and engage in the crucial discussion of how to best address the social determinants of health. Early bird registration goes through July 1, 2021. PARTNERS ACHIEVING COMMUNITY TRANSFORMATION (PACT), COLUMBUS, OHIO
The City of Columbus, Ohio State University, and City of Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA) came together to form Partners Achieving Community Transformation (PACT) to ensure that investment of funds benefited residents of the Near East Side community. Near East Side residents made up the oversight and advisory committees, as well as five other subcommittees, developed by PACT to ensure that community voice was centered. The relationships PACT has built with its partners has allowed them to address housing, economic stability, education, medical care, the built environment, and community connectedness. The Community and Clinical Connections for Prevention and Health Branch has released a request for applications – Building Resilient Inclusive Communities. The funds support investments to improve nutrition security, to increase safe and accessible physical activity opportunities, and to increase social connections while ensuring that health equity is central to the implementation of all strategies. LOCAL LEADERS LEARNING NETWORK FOR SOCIALLY CONNECTED COMMUNITIES
The purpose of this group is to advance action that results in more socially connected and equitable communities by creating space for local government and community leaders to explore concepts, ideas, and community-level strategies that reduce social isolation and strengthen social ties, especially for those who are most marginalized. Z. SMITH REYNOLDS FOUNDATION SABBATICAL PROGRAM
