Birthday Celebrations & Food in the Classroom
Birthdays:
We feel every birthday is special and we celebrate birthdays each day on the morning announcements as well as recognition in the classrooms. Out of consideration for ALL our students, we ask you follow our MPS Health & Wellness Policy (#5110) and ask that you not send in edible treats for the class.
Other options to celebrate a birthday:
- Donate a book to the class or school library in honor of your child
- Send in non edible treats–festive pencils, stickers, fun erasers, colorful bracelets, etc.
- Donate a plant to beautify the school grounds, such as flowers, bulbs, trees, or bushes
- Donate a board game to be used for indoor recess or a jump rope, ball or outdoor games
Food in the Classroom:
We ask that you not send in any whole class snacks/holiday/birthday treats–anytime during the year. We have many students with various food sensitivities that we must be considerate of.
Please try to avoid sweet treats and candy as school snacks. Snacks should be “food to grow on” in accordance with Middletown Public Schools Health and Wellness Policy (#5110). Nutritious snacking is our goal as we teach our students about health and living well.
Thank you!
