Community Mental Health Questionnaire
The Town of Lexington's Mental Health Task Force, in partnership with the Center for Social Research at Framingham State University, has developed a mental health questionnaire to assess the needs of the Lexington community.

We Want to Better Understand
the mental health status and needs of Lexington community members aged 18 and over, as well as any potential barriers to accessing needed services. Your feedback will help us guide this important work.

If you are unable to complete the online questionnaire for any reason, please contact us at 781-698-4840 for assistance.

This questionnaire is confidential, anonymous, and should take less than 15 minutes to complete.

The questionnaire is open from now until May 31, 2021

The questionnaire is made possible through the support of:
  • Lexington Select Board
  • Lexington School Committee
  • Town Manager’s Office
  • Community Health Network Area 15 (CHNA 15), our grant funder

Aerial Spraying to Control Mosquito Larvae to Take Place Between April 19-30
The East Middlesex Mosquito Control Project will be using a helicopter to spray an application of Bti (Bacillus thuringiensis var. israelensis) to control mosquito larvae over large wetlands in Lexington between April 19-30. Wetlands currently being evaluated include Tophet Swamp, Hayden Woods, Great Meadows, the Meagherville Conservation area and the upper Vine Brook area. The Bti will be applied in a granular formulation by a helicopter flying low directly over the wetlands.

Residents do not need to take any special precautions for this application.

Bti is a natural bacterium found in soil. The EPA classifies Bti as a relatively non-toxic pesticide. Bti is considered a target selective and environmentally compatible pesticide that affects mosquito larvae and a few closely related aquatic insects in the fly family. Once applied, Bti stays suspended in water for 24 to 48 hours and then biodegrades as it settles to the bottom. The Bti product name is VectoBac GS (EPA Reg. #73049-10).

For further information contact the East Middlesex Mosquito Control Project at 781-899-5730.

Information for Short Term Rental Operators
At the Fall 2020 Special Town Meeting, a Short Term Rental Bylaw was passed to protect residents’ safety, health, and quality of life, while allowing an avenue for residents to operate short term rental businesses in homes in Lexington.

The Land Use, Health, and Development Department developed the bylaw in response to the increased popularity of short term rentals and concerns raised by neighbors living close to short term rental properties.

Common short term rental hosting platforms used are Air BnB, VRBO, Craigslist, HomeAway, Boston Rentals, Couch Surfing, and FlipKey.

If you operate a short term rental property, you will need to apply for an annual registration and will be subject to an inspection by the Building and Zoning Office before issuing a Certificate of Registration.
