New Book Spotlight

Down a Dark River by Karen Odden introduces us to Michael Corravan, Senior Inspector at Scotland Yard.

London, 1878. Pulled from an on-going case by the director, Corravan must solve the murder of the daughter of a prominent judge as more bodies are discovered. Does this tie into a seemingly unconnected possible kidnapping?

As the feature film, Dune, and the appleTV+ series, Foundation, introduce new readers to classic science fiction authors, here is an opportunity to discover new authors from around the world in The Best of World SF, edited by Lavie Tidhar.

In these 26 stories from 23 countries, you'll meet robots, rogues and time travellers.

"Ray McMillian is a Black classical musician on the rise—until a shocking theft sends him on a desperate quest to recover his lost family heirloom violin on the eve of the most prestigious musical competition in the world."

1000 Years of Joys and Sorrows: A Memoir, by Ai Weiwei.

This memoir is both sweeping and intimate as Ai, the Chinese artist and activist, takes the reader through his family legacy (starting with his father the poet). Artists will be moved by his descriptions of the vital role of creativity in the world. Activists will be inspired at the author’s unflinching approach to freedom of expression.
