Accreditation Newsletter - Volume 2
AVC Faculty,

Happy New Year, and Welcome Back for the Spring Semester!

Building on my last communication with you in September of 2021, AVC’s Accreditation process is ongoing—thanks to everyone’s participation and support. The Accreditation Committee meets monthly, putting the Institutional Self-Evaluation Report (ISER) narratives and evidence together; this is good progress forward. We hope to have our first draft of the ISER draft by the middle of this semester (Spring 2022). This initial work on the ISER will continue through October 2022.

The ISER draft will guide the Committee’s decisions on the Quality Focused Essay (QFE) topics this semester. Furthermore, some of the Accreditation Committee members are revising the AVC History, and Prof. Charles Hood (English Dept.) will do a final revision this semester.

On Spring 2022 Opening Day, Dr. Alex Parisky and I gave another Accreditation Workshop/Training on “Formatting” the ISER Evidence according to the ACCJC’s requirements.

Per the Accreditation Timeline, the advanced ACCJC ISER training with Gohar Momjian will be on March 24, 2022 from 1-2 pm for the Accreditation Committee and most likely Admin Council. This semester I will also be attending the 2022 Accreditation Institute Virtual Conference from Feb. 24-26.

The Accreditation Committee will continue to meet monthly, working on the ISER draft, while Accreditation Work Sessions will also continue. Furthermore, the Standard Teams will continue to meet through October 2022, depending on progress with what is needed for the final draft.

Again, we would love to feature your work as part of this report! As you do spectacular things in your disciplines, departments, and divisions to help fill gaps or aid student success and retention, please share those data-supported narratives with the Accreditation Committee (AC) via email to madebayoige@avc.edu, along with any questions about the accreditation process.

Thank you for your participation,
