IPS Families,
We have completed our first full week of school. Preschool has started, and ALL of our kindergarten students are in class together. We have had a wonderful start to the school year! Thank you for all of your support, a special thank you to our PTO. The IPS PTO does so much to support our students and staff at IPS! We have new furniture in the third-grade classrooms, resources for our new design technology class, and we should be receiving a book vending machine soon to support our positive behavioral intervention program. If you have not joined PTO yet, please join the amazing organization that does so much for our students and staff at IPS. Below are a few reminders and information from IPS.
Pick-up and Drop-off Procedures
Morning Drop-Off:
- ALL Car Riders drop-off in the morning in the back
- Morning Drop-Off (Bus) - 8:15-8:25 a.m. - front circle
- IPS staff members will be by the doors to greet and direct the students to their classrooms.
In the morning we may begin to drop off in the front circle if a staff member waives you up to the front of the school to help with traffic.
Afternoon Pick-Up:
- Preschool Afternoon Pick-Up (Car Riders) - Approximately 3:00 p.m. - front door under the awning
- Afternoon Pick-Up (Car Riders) ( Kdgn.) - Approximately 3:00 p.m. - kindergarten doors in back of IPS
- Afternoon Pick-Up (Car Riders) (Grades 1 & 2) - Approximately 3:00 p.m. - ramp doors in back of IPS
- Afternoon Pick-Up (Car Riders) (Grades 3 & 4) - Approximately 3:05 p.m. - front circle
- Afternoon Pick-Up (Bus) - Approximately 3:00 p.m. front circle
Pick-up each day is 3:00 PM-3:15 PM - we have been finishing around 3:08 PM, feel free to come later to avoid traffic and lines on Hillside! We have staff with students at each of the doors!
Spirit Week Next Week
The big football game against Cuyahoga Heights is next week and we are having a district-wide spirit week:
Grades 1-4 and Preschool
Tuesday 9/7 - Neon Day
Wednesday 9/8 - College Day
Thursday 9/9 - Browns Day
Friday 9/10 - Indy Pride Day
Kindergarten - Color Week
Next week we have the students wearing:
Green- Tuesday

Breakfast Buddies
Independence Primary School is excited to host several events where students will have the opportunity to participate in special one-on-one time. On Thursday, September 23, weather permitting, please walk your child to the Primary School Pavilion, which is located by the playground beginning at 8:00 a.m. Please enjoy a donut and coffee compliments of the IPS PTO. The program will conclude at 8:30 a.m. at which time the students will report back to their classrooms on their own. If there is rain, the program will be held in the gym/cafeteria. Please note: Students who are unable to participate in this program will have the opportunity to have a donut with our very own IPS “Breakfast Buddy Staff Member.”
There is alternate parking available:
- Dollar General (back corner only)
- For safety and bus arrival, please do not park along the driveway or circle.

Career Exploration Day
We are looking for parents who are interested in coming into school to share their career experiences with our students. Please click here if you would like to come into school for Career Day, be part of our year-long career speaker series, or host a student for job shadowing in the spring. Thank you!

- Students in grades 1-3, join us for a story/craft program that will have you rolling with the beat of the drums!
Registration is required and space is limited. Masks are also required.
