Please be aware that trail conditions throughout our park system may be snow covered or icy, with variable conditions present!
 
The City has contracted the removal of significant snow from the trails, but ice melter is not used, with the exception of city sidewalks and building access points.
 
Please exercise care when using park amenities in the winter, especially paths and playgrounds.

Sterling Heights Parks and Recreation is now offering Community Center gym rentals on Sundays between the hours of 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. starting on Sunday, Jan. 16, 2022.

These rentals are designed for groups of 20 people or less (no spectators), and activities are limited to basketball, volleyball, pickleball, futsal, general athletic conditioning, etc.

Gym rentals are $100 for 2 hours, and $40 per extra hour.

Applicant must be a Sterling Heights resident or business with proper photo identification.

You can book your rentals in-person during our regular business hours (Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. and 2 – 5 p.m.) at the main Parks and Recreation office!

From total body workouts to dance-based exercise to yoga, we offer many different classes for everyone to enjoy!

Join us for our first-ever Mom 2 Mom Sale! This is a great opportunity for registered vendors to sell their children-related resale items such as clothing, toys, and furniture.

Event will be held Saturday, March 5 at the Community Center.

Free admission for Sterling Heights residents, $3 per person for non-residents.
Things have been cookin' in at the Community Center in our Prep Like a Pro cooking class!
 
Next up on the menu is soup! Join us on Tuesday, Jan. 25 as we meal prep three yummy soup recipes to take home and cook throughout the week!

Sterling Heights Parks and Recreation is excited to present the Sterling Coffeehouse on Sunday, Feb. 27 and Sunday, March 20 at 3 p.m. at the Community Center.
 
Blackthorn
Sunday, Feb. 27 3 - 5 p.m.

Blackthorn will be enhancing your spirit in this February event. Your eyes and ears will behold a wonderment of music as the band performs shanties, jigs and reels using various assortments of traditional instruments.

Jill Jack
Sunday, March 20  3 - 5 p.m.

Detroit based singer-songwriter captures audiences with her soulful voice and dynamic storytelling. Jill has written and produced 12 albums and toured the country. Over her 20-year career, she has continually adapted and flowed through music, showcasing self-written songs in rock, folk, Americana and jazz. Jill Jack has toured with Bob Seger, John Waite and played the Ann Arbor Folk Festival.

DeeBe's Coffee will be out at the Dodge Park Ice Rink on:
Fridays from 4 to 10 p.m.
Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Sterling Heights Parks and Recreation offices will be closed on Monday, Jan. 17 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The Community Center, Nature Center, and Senior Center will also be closed.

Normal business hours will resume on Tuesday, Jan. 18.

The Dodge Park Ice Rink will be open on Monday, Jan. 17 from 12 – 9 p.m.
Grab your camera and head outdoors -- it’s time to capture the wonders of nature!

Pick your best and most recent nature related picture and register for our photo contest. All pictures will be on display between February 5-12 on our big picture windows facing outside. 

Contest Details:
  • Pictures should be dropped off at the Nature Center or Community Center, ATTN: Brenda Suchenek, Recreation Specialist/Naturalist
  • Pictures must be 5 x 7
  • Max 3 photos per each registration
  • This is open to Sterling Heights residents only and limited participants
  • Include your name, address & phone number on the back of each photo
  • Pictures must be submitted by Jan. 29, 2022
  • $3 per resident entry

Winner:
First place winner will get an 11x14 gallery wrapped canvas of your print and the winning photo will be displayed at the Nature Center. Second place winner will also receive a prize.
