Sorry, but our newsletter staff has been too busy corralling grandkids to put together a top notch newsletter. We could show off pictures of them but that would invite a 'show-off' picture war. So we will cut to the chase and tell you about the amazing classes coming in October.

OCTOBER Classes


TOE-UP SOCK CLASS, part 2

  • Tuesday, October 3rd
  • Time: 2:00 - 4:00pm
  • will cover Complete Afterthought Heel and Kitchener stitch to close the heel
  • Skills Needed: a. Be able to recognize a knit & a purl stitch, b. Be able to knit in the round.
  • Materials Needed: US 5 circular knitting needles; 32” cable, all other materials will be provided by instructor
  • Instructor: Carol Martin
  • Class Fee: $25.00 per session


PROJECT CLASS

  • Every Wednesday in October
  • Time: 10:30am - 12:30pm.
  • Bring whatever project you are working on and get help and moral support
  • Instructor: Carol Martin
  • Class Fee: $10.00


SECRET FOREST MYSTERY KNIT-ALONG CLASS

  • Every Wednesday in October
  • Time: 2:00 - 4:00pm
  • Materials Needed: 800 yards of fingering weight yarn for main color & 130 yards of each color of 1 to 7 contrasting colors; 2 sets of US 5 knitting needles with 40" or 47" cable (see pattern for suggestions to replace one set of knitting needles); 1 tapestry needle; 1 stitch marker; optional: 21 stitch markers for repeats

  • Class Fee: Free!


STOCKING STUFFER COWL CLASS, part 1

  • Friday, October 6th
  • Time: 2:00 - 4:00pm
  • Materials: 400yds of fingering weight yarn for main color and 3 mini skeins of contrasting colors, pattern (Ravelry, $7.00), US # 4 needle
  • Instructor:  Karen Stoltz
  • Class Fee: $25.00


"KNITTING THE NATIONAL PARKS" CLASS – GLACIER HAT

  • Saturday, October 7th
  • Time: 2:00 - 4:000pm
  • Materials needed: hat kit, pattern for hat (available on Ravelry) or from the book Knitting the National Parks by Nancy Bates. We have this book in stock. You will also need US 5 & 7 16” knitting needles.
  • Instructor:  Amy Murphy
  • Class Fee: Free with the purchase of the $30.00 hat kit.


FALL FESTIVAL CLASS – fall pumpkins

  • Friday, October 13th
  • Time: 2:00 - 4:00pm
  • Make a fall garland, mantel display or a cute home decoration; the possibilities are endless
  • Materials Needed: Blue Sky worsted mini bundle, US 8 DPN’s or Magic Loop, we'll provide a free pattern
  • Instructor:  Barb Carroll
  • Class Fee: $15.00 for class & $35.00 for Blue Sky mini bundle

SHORTEST DAY SHAWL CLASS

  • Saturday, October 14th
  • Time: 2:00 – 4:00pm
  • Materials: Pattern calls for 1740 – 2088 Yards of Fingering (sock) weight yarn, Size US 4 Needles; however, you can also use any weight yarn (a great way to use up scrap yarn). Bring your stash yarn, minis whatever you want to use up. We’ll help you figure it out, needle size depends on weight of yarn you use.

  • Class Fee: $25.00

STOCKING STUFFER COWL CLASS, part 2

  • Friday, October 27th
  • Time: 2:00 – 4:00pm
  • Materials: same as for Part I
  • Instructor:  Karen Stoltz
  • Class Fee: no cost if you took part one

“TWO-AT-A-TIME" SOCK CLASS

  • Saturday, October 28th 
  • Time: 2:00 – 4:00pm
  • Materials: Bring two balls of either worsted, DK, fingering/sock
  • Prerequisite Skills: Magic Loop, knitting in the round, must have experience in knitting socks (this is not a class for learning how to knit socks. Want to learn how to knit socks? We can take care of that!)
  • Instructor:   Carol Martin
  • Class Fee: $25.00

Need help with a project? Dropped a stitch or having problems with a complicated lace project? We can help with that. Here is our store policy on helping customers:

  • If you have a knitted or crocheted problem that will only take 15 minutes or less, please call first to make sure one our staff members can help. It is not always possible for us to help on a drop-in basis.
  • If your knitting or crochet problem will take more than 15 minutes, please call us at 828-349-0515 to make an appointment with one of us.


Appointments/lessons can be booked for $25.00 an hour. 

We will be shutting down our online store for the next several months in order to make needed improvements and enhancements to serve you better in the future. Thank you for your understanding and patience.
