Season's Greetings, OCFSD!

As we head into winter break, and my time as your superintendent comes to an end, I would like to once again share my immense gratitude for the time I have spent with OCFSD. It has been an absolute honor to have served OCFSD for the last twelve years and I’ve loved every moment of my time here.

I hope you have a chance to share this time with family and friends over winter break and take some time to relax and recharge and be ready to approach the new year refreshed and energized. I wish you all the best in the new year!

Yours in continued success,

Dr. Daniel D. Unertl, J.D.

Knight Construction Students with Shovels at Ground Breaking

Stadium renovation project expands Knight Construction curriculum

This fall, a crew of Knight Construction students from Oak Creek High School (OCHS) were the first to turn the shovel at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Knights Community Stadium Renovation Project.

Knight Construction students are working with Boldt Company to enhance the main entrance to the stadium and build a new multi-use building. The new building, which will replace the aging pole barn, will provide much-needed storage and team meeting space for several high school athletic teams, clubs, and youth programs.

Students will be able to work alongside professionals as they learn a variety of skills, including setting masonry blocks, setting trusses, roofing, installing windows and doors, painting, electrical, and plumbing. Read More...

Knight Construction students on the Deerfield Playground

In addition to the stadium renovation project and the residential build on Old Ryan Road, Knight Construction students also installed a communication board on the Deerfield playground! The board was purchased by the Deerfield PTO and will help our nonverbal students communicate on the playground. Deerfield students enjoyed watching the installation during recess time!

OCFSD elementary families experienced the magic of math during Family Math Nights at their school. As the District prepared to dive into a new elementary math curriculum, learning coaches worked together to develop a family-friendly event to encourage excitement and positivity about mathematics.

"Elementary Family Math Nights sprouted from a desire to engage more families in mathematics, especially as we launch a new math curricular resource," shares Michelle Douglas-Meyer, the District's math facilitator. Read More...

OCR... On the Move!

Your team in the Oak Creek Community Education & Recreation Department (OCR) is focused on offering a variety of enrichment, sports, wellness, aquatic and childcare programs for our community. To provide daytime programming in family-friendly, accessible facilities we are partnering with Parkway Church. Beginning this Winter 2024, many daytime OCR programs will be hosted in the Family Life Center located on their campus at 10940 S Nicholson Road, just south of Oakwood Road. This is primarily for programs that would run during a typical school day. For adults, this would include activities such as Senior Fit, Gentle Yoga, and computer classes. The preschool Little Tyke programs including Wee Cook, Circle Time, and Sensory Play will be held at the Parkway Church location. The majority of evening and weekend programs will remain in Oak Creek-Franklin School District facilities or event-specific locations based on recreational partnerships.

Programs such as archery, golf, indoor tennis, and pickleball league play will continue to be offered off-site. All registration continues through OCR.
