COVID-19 Vaccinations
After the rollout of the highly anticipated COVID-19 vaccine, Enable started exploring a number of options in order to secure appointments for the at-risk population we serve and also the caregivers that dedicate themselves to our residents' safety and security.

Before the increased demand in vaccination appointments, Enable was able to secure a partnership with the Walmart Pharmacy in Linden, NJ, who provided us a number of appointments to get both our residents' and staff vaccinated. Since January, Enable has been able to secure vaccinations for 80 Enable residents and 29 staff spread across the organization, with 7 additional residents and 18 additional staff scheduled to receive their first round of vaccinations later this month. Enable plans on continuing their efforts in scheduling vaccination appointments for residents and staff and has secured a secondary partnership with the Walmart Pharmacy in Hamilton, NJ. Please note that enrolling in vaccination appointments is optional for all residents and staff and signed consents are required before receiving the vaccine.

We could not be more thankful for these opportunities to help the individuals we serve and the people that support them. Thank you to both Walmart Pharmacy and our dedicated staff that made this possible!
Love was in the air!

Enable had an especially fun Valentine's day, with plenty of gifts and well wishes to go around. Our HQ staff were treated to a delicious breakfast and other goodies to celebrate the holiday.

Our Group Homes were feeling the love as well! They had their own holiday plans, from exchanging gifts among their house mates, participating in seasonal arts and crafts projects, or baking delicious cookies with the help of their staff.

Valentine's Day
Virtual Day Services
A vision of the future.

It has been nearly a year since the first Day Program closures as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, that didn't stop our amazing Day Services staff from delivering engaging and productive activities to our residents at home.

Recently, our Assistant Director of Day Services, Rinah, held a virtual Day session with our group homes. The residents have been hard at work creating “Vision Boards,” a visual representation of the residents’ goals they would like to achieve.

Check out those boards! Our residents were extremely excited to share them with each other and you.
Munching for music!

Enable, Inc. will be participating in another Dine & Donate campaign at the end of March! We will be participating in this fundraiser with the amazing On the Border Grill & Cantina. Make an order on March 31st between 11 AM and 10 PM to have 20% of the total cost of your order donated directly to us!

All proceeds will go towards launching a Music Education & Therapy Program for the individuals we serve, headed by the extremely dedicated and talented Jim Gaven, Founder/CEO of the Key of Awesome Music! With 10+ years serving individuals with disabilities, we are extremely excited to partner with him in this endeavor.

In Memoriam: Robert Andersen
Robert Edward Andersen
August 10, 1950 – January 25, 2021
It is with a heavy heart that we bid farewell to one of our residents, Robert Andersen. Robert has been under the care of Enable for the past 3 and a half years, and was a light in the lives of many, bringing positivity and gratitude everywhere he went. Robert and his family remain in our thoughts and prayers.

Below is a tribute to Robert written by his brother, Fred, on the morning of his passing.
"I’m so sorry to report that my brother, Robert, passed away peacefully early this morning. He was 70 years old.

Over the last few years Bobby, as most of our family called him, had been living in medical group homes, with several chronic conditions. Prior to that, however, he spent over 30 years at a beautiful group home in Haddon Heights, NJ with five other men. Born with Down Syndrome Bobby truly had a wonderful, active life. He had a job for most of those years and the group made regular trips to, among other places, the Cowtown Rodeo and Howling Woods in Jackson, NJ, where he made friends with the wolf dogs. In the summer they spent two weeks at summer camp in Maine. He went to church regularly. He was part of the Possibility Players, a performing group for people with special needs and developmental disabilities, which put on a big show once a year. Like his brother, he was a bit of a ham and loved the spotlight. For several years he participated in the New Jersey Special Olympics.

As many of you know, there is a sweetness and joy about people with Down’s and Bobby was no exception. Everyone was his friend and anyone who encountered him fell in love with him. Even during his hospital stays, the nurses would always remark about his smile and how he would thank them for anything they did for him. The manager of that group home in Haddon Heights always said that if anyone was guaranteed a place in heaven, it was Bob.

The loss of a loved one, particularly a close family member, is always difficult, but this one is particularly tough. Thank you all for your support and love."

- Fred Andersen, Brother
