Welcome Home Sabbath, February 6

I remember when I was a teenager, drifting away from church and God, only to find myself wondering, “There has to be more to life than the life I’m living now.” I was in and out of church, and the times I’d go, I’d only go to see my friends.
I played basketball on many gym's nights on the hard floors of North Shore Junior Academy gym. There were several grown men, most of them fathers, who treated me like their son. They didn’t care about my spotty church attendance; they welcomed me with open arms. I’ll never forget Steve, Luis, and Kurt, three men who showed a genuine concern for my life.
There’s something special about a welcoming spirit. On Sabbath, February 6, we have a special Welcome Sabbath, a guest-friendly worship service set aside for non-members and members whom we have not seen in a while. Perhaps there’s someone you know whom you'd like to invite to this special day. Invite your friends, family, neighbors. And let’s be a welcoming church in our drifting world.

For Love of the World: A Global Valentine

In my humble opinion, each Sabbath at Campion is unique and extraordinary. To say there is a special Sabbath would be redundant. However, the pandemic has stolen from us the highlighted occasions and themed Sabbath services. Certainly not the greatest loss, but there is value in these.
I submit to you what are for me the three values of themed Sabbath Services: First, to add color to the life and worship God is giving us. Second, to celebrate variety and the differences that God created us with (not to be confused with the differences that we stir ourselves). The third value for me is the unique opportunity to extend invitations for friends and neighbors to come and know Jesus at Campion in person or online at campion.church.
On February 13, we will have our annual International Sabbath, including languages and learning from different parts of the world. While we are limited in our travel around the globe, we can still celebrate the beauty of languages and nations, tribes and people. It’s a reminder of our mission to the world and a foretaste of heaven.
So for the love of God to the world (a real global Valentine), mark February 13 on your calendar. Invite someone to join in person at Campion Church or online at campion.church.

For the second time in 10 months, members of the General Conference Executive Committee voted on Zoom to postpone the quinquennial session of the denomination, originally scheduled for late June of 2020 to June 6-11,2022 due to challenges arising from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Because of the pandemic, last year the General Conference session had been postponed to May 20-25, 2021. Because of the continued Covid-19, the plan had to be changed again.

Pastors Build Home for Habitat for Humanity |
The Campion church pastors put the Bible verse “Build your house on the rock” into action by volunteering with Habitat for Humanity during the month of December.
Campion ministers invested not only in words, but committed themselves to lead with action. Collectively, they served on the board of the local House of Neighborly Services, the faith committee of Habitat for Humanity, and as chaplains for the local police department. At least once a year, as part of the team’s advance planning, they take a day to grab tool belts and gloves and lend their energy toward building a house with Habitat for Humanity.
These community connections are important for the outreach of the church In the opinion of Nestor Soriano, evangelism and worship pastor, the hard work of assisting in construction is worth it. “What a blessing it is to know that through my little efforts, I made a difference for a family in need.”
It’s not just about the studs and sheetrock, but about the family who will receive the home, explained Michael Morss, discipleship pastor. “It’s always a privilege to partner with Habitat for Humanity and to pray, while working, that God blesses the family that receives this home.”
Micheal Goetz, senior pastor, comments that taking a day to build a home is part of their mission. “The Campion church is the combination of two parishes, campus and community. With that, two of the essential activities of our team include interaction with our students and participation in a local organization. Individually, we look for ways that express our gifts and passions.”

Pastor Morss Accepts Call |
Until Then…
It’s often been said that time is life’s most precious commodity. This certainly seems to be echoed in the angels’ question at Jesus’ ascension when they asked the disciples “Why do you stand gazing up into heaven?” It’s not that they shouldn’t have been looking up, but it’s almost as if you can hear the angels saying, “What are you waiting for? There’s no time to waste!”
How apropos then and even more so now. When I consider the past three years of my ministry at Campion and how quickly that time has come and gone, there is one thing I am certain of---every moment counts! Why? Because I believe with my whole heart that Jesus is coming soon.
While it’s true that Shila and I have accepted a call to minister in the Washington Conference and that call will inevitably put distance between us and Loveland, Campion will always hold a special place in our hearts. Rather than focusing on the miles of separation, we take seriously the words of Jesus when he said, “And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself." John 12:32
Our commitment and appeal is to continue to lift up Christ every moment, and in so doing, I believe we will ultimately be drawn together on our journey towards Him. Thank you, Campion, for affording us the privilege and blessing of serving alongside each of you here at Campion! We look forward to the soon return of Jesus. Until then, we go on singing… Until then, we carry on!

Levente Meszaros
Levente Meszaros goes by Levi (pronounced Lĕvē), the biblical name of Levi in Romanian. He grew up in Romania—Transylvania to be exact—but arrived in Colorado, accompanying his wife Nancy, our Campion Academy chaplain.
Levi states that his family were the first Seventh-day Adventists in their town, so he grew up Adventist, but because there were no Adventist schools available near his home in Romania, he never attended one. But he did study voice for eight years and piano for seven years, and Levi was just beginning a career in opera before he moved to the United States. Asked what brought him to the US, he said, “My wife.” He and Nancy met at a Bible conference here in the States in 2017, and the rest of the story is that he is blessing us here at Campion.
We appreciate that Levi is already seriously involved in our church singing, playing the piano, and assisting Pastor Morss with Sabbath School and Pastor Soriano with worship.
Levi says that in Romania he never had time for a hobby as he was always busy studying and working in their very large garden; Nevertheless, he still enjoys gardening and involvement in landscaping. But a hobby now? Eating. He also enjoys reading and Bible study. In fact, Levi would like to become a pastor and is studying toward that goal. In the meantime, he would like to teach piano and voice.

Alisha and Matthew Anderson |
Alisha and Mathew Anderson moved to Loveland, Colorado, in July of 2020 from the Vancouver, Washington, area. Both Alisha and Matt were born in Portland, Oregon, but moved to Washington shortly after birth. Alisha grew up in Spokane and Spangle and Mathew calls Woodland, Washington, home. Both of their families live in Washington so it was a difficult decision to leave everyone behind to move to Colorado. Alisha felt impressed to fill out the application for the 3rd and 4th grade teacher position at HMS. When Alisha was invited to interview for the job, they got a "good feeling" about the area and the people and decided to move, despite leaving their families behind.
Mathew has just completed his Masters degree in business and is currently looking for work.
They bring with them their "fur baby named Benji," a terrier mix. They enjoy snowboarding and hiking the trails in the area.
We are so pleased to welcome Alisha and Matt to our Campion church fellowship.

Camping 24/7
Dan and Julia Hansen service hundreds of people each year at Glacier View Ranch near Ward, Colorado. Their eight years here were preceded by similar work at Camp Au Sable in Michigan. He is the Director of Camp Ministries and she, the Guest Services Coordinator, so they have a very visible presence to children, parents, students, and campers checking into GVR. They say, “We are blessed to be able to serve all those who come to Glacier View Ranch.”
Their hobbies include camping, photography, gardening, and music. He plays the violin and she plays the piano.
They have one daughter who works in an emergency vet clinic in Boulder and her husband is in law-enforcement. Their little son often spends some days with the Hansen grandparents at GVR and he has become a member of Campion’s cradle roll class.

John F. Harris and his wife Donna transferred to our Campion Church a little over a year ago, but John (89 ) passed away December 25, 2020 at home surrounded by his family members.
John was a life-long member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church who graduated from Highland Academy in Portland, Tennessee in 1950, Southern Missionary College (now Southern Adventist University) in 1955, with a degree in Religion and Potomac Seminary in 1957 and Andrews University in 1966 with master’s degrees in Religion and Religious Education.
John began as an ordained pastor in the Georgia Cumberland Conference, and then in 1959, John and his family accepted a call to Thailand as missionaries. John learned to speak, read and write the language of Thai, which he said was the most difficult task he ever accomplished. John loved to sing, and was a member of the Thai King’s Heralds Quartet. In 1969 he moved to Singapore with his family and taught religion at Far Eastern Academy, returning to the United States in 1973. He returned to Thailand from October 2002 to October 2004. The last churches he pastored, Gunnison and Nucla, were in the Rocky Mountain Conference.

Long-Time Member Loreita Harsany Passes |
Loreita Harsany, a member of the Campion Church for at least 57 years, passed away January 29 just short of her 96th birthday. She has been living with her daughter Marieta Hardin for about the last 15 of those years.
Mrs. Harsany was a very active member of the Campion Church before age and eye problems prevented further participation. She was actively involved in preparations for the communion services, baking all the communion bread those years. Two other ministries that she carried on for many years, sometimes both at the same time, was preparing and leading out with Thanksgiving baskets and fancy Christmas plates delivered to the community. Her husband Frank helped in delivering these, sometimes even in the midst of a blizzard.
Loreita leaves behand her immediate family, daughter Marieta Hardin, granddaughter Melodie Janzen and great-granddaughter Nevaeh Janzen. Because of Covid-19 there will be no services.

Larry Howard Retires After 33 Years with City of Loveland |
Larry, Loveland's Water Resources Manager for the past 33 years was honored for his service as chairman of the group that will own shares in the $500 million Chimney Hallow Reservoir, a water storage project that lies just over a sandstone hogback to the west of Carter Lake, southwest of Loveland. Loveland's city manager commented that Larry's stewardship and organizational backing of that project will deserve the gratitude of water users region-wide for generations to come.

Max Levy / Loveland Reporter-Herald Larry Howard points to the site of the future Loveland Great Western Reservoir on a map of the city’s water infrastructure kept in his office. Howard is retiring after 33 years of serving as the city’s water resources manager, during which time he guided Loveland’s involvement in major water storage projects such as construction of the Green Ridge Glade and Chimney Hollow reservoirs.

Camporee Coming To Wyoming |
On January 26, 2021, an exciting and historical vote was taken by the 2024 International Camporee Executive Advisory Committee that will impact Pathfinders around the world. This vote approved two things: a change of location for the 2024 Believe the Promise Camporee from Oshkosh, Wisconsin, to Gillette, Wyoming; and new dates of August 5-11, 2024. |

February 20 – HMS Open House: After 2nd service; we are inviting you to walk through the school, check out our classrooms, and see how you are blessing HMS.
Want your child to attend HMS next school year? Do you think there is no way it would be financially possible? We invite you to email or call us. Schedule a tour or just visit with a staff member to help answer your questions. Currently, our visitation may look a little different but we want to help you and your child. Registration for next school year 2021-2022 will begin soon. We estimate that some classrooms will have limited space again so keep your eyes open for dates and incentives.
COVID is not stopping us from doing service projects. On Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, HMS has made it a tradition to have school and focus on service. Each classroom did something different to help make our community a little better and brighter. Mrs. Smith’s kindergartners collected towels and blankets for a local veterinarian clinic and later had a virtual tour. Mrs. Lange’s 1st and 2nd graders made banners to welcome back Campion Academy students and staff. Mrs. Anderson’s 3rd and 4th grade class participated in “Letters to Elders,” a program that sends letters to senior communities around the globe. Mr. B’s 5th and 6th grade class made cards for HMS students and prayed for each classroom. Finally, Mrs. Jordan’s class helped Campion Church with cleaning and restocking pews. Each student felt blessed to participate and encourage someone else.
If you have a need that HMS can help you with, please let us know. We have been so blessed this year and want to pay it forward. We are to be a light to others. Let us be light to you and help us teach our students to give kindness in return. May God bless each of you.

Campion Academy Goes Online Temporarily After Positive COVID Cases

The church board has appointed a search committee for our pastoral team. Pastor Micheal Goetz and a conference leader will join five members selected by the board. The committee has began discussion and reviewing resumes.

February Offerings
February 6: Local Church Budget
We are in the process of raising $300,000 to finish the new church addition and the kitchen as well as replacing the furnace and sprinklers. It is amazing what has been accomplished already! Now all of this needs to be maintained and even updated from time to time. That is paid for through the local church budget, a very necessary part in keeping our church reflecting our Christian values.
February 13: Adventist Television Ministries Evangelism
Can you name all of the Adventist church’s television ministries? They might not be what you think. The answer: Breath of Life, Faith for Today, It Is Written, and Jesus 101. They are evangelistic and they share real hope through the truth of Scripture as they share Jesus Christ.
February 20: Local Church Budget: Light, heat, water, plumbing, insurance, telephones and computers. All things we take for granted to help keep things running at our church, but all quite expensive. That is why we need to support the local church budget offerings.
February 27: Rocky Mountain Conference Advance
Second semester has started at Campion Academy, and we are proud to be on the same campus. The students work hard and the faculty and staff put in many hours in Christian education—which is not cheap! Twenty-five percent of today’s offering goes to the secondary schools in this conference. They are our schools, so that is why we support them.

The plans for a remodeled kitchen continue to move forward with some final adjustments and input details before they can be displayed and submitted to the county for permits.
Loan:
Continue to pay down the loan with a one-time donation or by making a regular monthly gift.
