MICHELLE RECOMMENDS
This anthology of poems collected from more than 60 poets - some of long renown such as Mary Oliver and Jane Kenyon, and others newer to the field such as Amanda Gorman and Kate Baer - examines the complicated and complex feelings that accompany young women coming of age. There are poems about loneliness, rage, shame, longing, belonging, joy and more. Editor Diana Whitney's powerful message that 'we are already enough' resonates throughout the selections. This beautifully illustrated book is one to turn to again and again. (gr 6+)

GRAPHICS' CORNER
Youth Services staff member, Justin Wang, offers three great recommendations for our graphics corner this month.
Cells at Work! Baby by Yasuhiro Fukuda
Cells at Work! Baby follows a bunch of anthropomorphic blood cells as they transport oxygen as a new baby is being born. It SOUNDS weird, but it’s a hilarious manga that is also educational! The art is in a chibi style that works for the books' cute hijinks and adventures. If you are looking to try a light manga read with some educational fun facts scattered throughout, pick this one up! Heavy Vinyl by Carly Usdin, Ill. by Nina Vakueva and Irene Flores
Heavy Vinyl is about a group of girls in1996 who work at a vinyl shop and end up being in a secret vigilante fight club. I loved the writing in this comic - from the new friendships and budding romance to the 100% on point sarcasm that had me laughing out loud! A diverse cast of characters, all of which get adequate time to develop, and fantastic art/character design make this an easy recommendation. I just want more of it! (gr 7+)

Ironheart: Meant to Fly by Eve Ewing, Ill. by Luciano Vecchio
Inventor and super genius, Riri Williams, takes a “box of scraps” and makes herself an Ironman suit to become the superhero, Ironheart. Across 12 issues this series has everything from school/superhero work balance to casual team ups and cameos from other superheroes who pop in. I’ve been craving more Riri stories and finally we have a black female author who is writing her. Riri has never felt more authentic to me. I can’t wait to see her enter the MCU! (gr 8+)
