Help Us Thank Samaritan's Purse
|
|
The Lord has blessed our community with Samaritan’s Purse to assist us with Ian cleanup. There are 100 volunteers actually living on our campus. They are also using our facilities to coordinate their daily work activities. These volunteers have made a huge contribution to our cleanup efforts and have blessed many in need not only with physical labor but also with Bibles and prayer. How can we say “thanks”? We can thank them by providing dessert! Yep, it’s that simple. Cakes, cookies, pies, sweet breads... whatever you like to make.
These volunteers will be here until December 19 so there’s plenty of time for you to bake. All baked goods can be delivered to the kitchen in Lenox Hall and labeled Samaritan’s Purse volunteers.
Contact Janice Guilmette (802) 760-0139 or Kathy Kresge (941) 661-1175 for more information.

Foster Care Christmas Luncheon
|
|
The Foster Care Christmas Luncheon will be held on Saturday, December 3rd in the Life Center. We have 136 kids registered for this event! Please help us to make this a special Christmas for these children by providing them with gifts. If you are willing to purchase a gift for under $25, please stop by the table in the Life Center on Sunday before the 9 and 11 am services. Please attach the card to the unwrapped gift and return it to the Life Center by November 20.
Thank you so much for helping us bless these children.

|
The Harmony Bible Class will begin a new 4-week study this Sunday, November 13th by best-selling author, Lee Strobel, “The Case for Christmas.” Lee investigates the story of Jesus’ birth and provides compelling evidence as to why we can know the Bible’s accounts are true. He examines what the scene of Jesus’ birth would have actually looked like, the Bible’s mind-boggling claim that Jesus was born of a virgin, and how prophecies about the Messiah in the Old Testament were fulfilled in Christ. You will discover the evidence points to the fact that Jesus was who he said he was: the divine Son of God.
Join us Sundays in Room 9 at 10:15 am following the Contemporary Service.

Pastor Earl Smith will offer a four week Bible Study helping to prepare our hearts and minds for Christmas. It will be held each Wednesday in the sanctuary from 9:30 – 11:00 AM. He will begin the study the week following Thanksgiving. Those dates include November 30 and December 7, 14, 28.
Hurricane Ian has disrupted our lives in many ways but the calendar continues to march forward. As it does we continue to do cleanup, all the while trying to get some sense of order and routine back into our lives. But we also know that each year between Thanksgiving and the New Year life can get hectic and very non-routine! Therefore, we need a time in the midst of that to pause and reflect upon the reason for the Christmas season. Especially this year, we don’t want the hustle and bustle of the holiday to become too crazy. After all, it is more than a holiday. It is a Holy Day! Therefore, let’s gather together in midweek Bible study to focus our spirits on this most Holy of events.
Rediscover the gift of Advent that comes without packages, ribbons, and bows. We don’t know why the Grinch hated Christmas. We just know he did. In this new Advent study, Matt Rawle explores the faith themes in the Christmas classic, How the Grinch Stole Christmas! including, how did the Grinch’s heart grow three sizes come Christmas morning? How did Christmas save the Grinch? Could it be that the very thing we think we hate is the one thing that changes our lives? This Advent and Christmas season, look at a familiar classic through the lens of faith and see how Christ speaks to us through our culture.
With intrigue, thoughtfulness, and humor Pastor Earl will help lead our focus in that very direction. No need to sign up or pre-register – just show up!

Greetings New Life Church friends and family --
Here we are on the eve of another tropical storm. I've heard comments from "OH a tropical storm isn't anything " - to "What's going on? I can't take much more!" This reminds me of how I look at my life in general. When my prayer life is strong and I'm faithful with my Bible studies, my days are filled with gratitude and joy. I feel confident in the assurance that I am fulfilling the purpose God is encouraging me to strive to do. And then I hit a road block, and I fall off a little in my "God time," and I find myself slipping back to that insecure place I used to know so well. I feel my self doubt taking over telling me I'm not good enough. I wonder how often we do this to ourselves? Because of my faith and the leaders and Pastors who encourage us, I've grown to realize that it's time to get back to a more dedicated prayer schedule. We can be confident in who God uniquely made us and when my self doubts cause me to compare myself to others, I'm missing out on the goodness God has given me. I am grateful to be a child of God and I am blessed to have an opportunity to pray and study His word so I can be a good servant. Psalm55:17-18 says; "Evening and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and He shall hear my voice. He hath delivered my soul in peace from the battle that was against me: for there were many with me." Please join us on Thursdays at noon in the sanctuary for quiet prayer time or to hear others' share their testimonies.Or sign up for an hour of prayer in our dedicated prayer room. I would love to talk to you if you have questions.
Our training meeting for new volunteers has been postponed until a later date when everything on the campus is more accessible. If you'd like to help greet on Sunday please let me know. Also, I am needing several volunteers to help with decorating or Christmas trees. We will decorate on Tuesday 11/22. Please meet me in the Life Center at 9am. Thank you for your service. Be sure to watch The Bridge for information and upcoming events as we enter the holiday season. I am blessed by you!
I'm praying for you!
