Kate Calvano is Resident Services Program Manager for EAH. “I know TAY Space well because my son was a longtime client. It’s an excellent program. So, when units opened up in our Hamilton Meadows development, I immediately thought of TAY Space and contacted Laura. It feels great to know we are working together to make a difference in the trajectory of these young lives.”
Taylor says transitional age youth are the hardest group to house because they don’t have work or credit histories, nor money to put down for a deposit. On top of that, they often need support obtaining food and learning basic skills for taking care of themselves such as cleaning, cooking, and how to deal with conflict. “It’s a vicious cycle because if you don’t have a safe place to live, you can’t get a job, or go to school, or be a productive in any way,” she says.
Calvano wholeheartedly agrees. “It takes a village to raise a child, so we become that village for these young adults. When you have support around you it is easier to become a citizen of our community.” Indeed, Hamilton Meadows provides more than a place to live; it fosters community and a true sense of caring. Taylor says that it’s clear EAH puts its clients first, and goes above and beyond for its residents.
