A Christmas Surprise

It was a homecoming surprise for the Wilson family. We told Director of Building and Grounds Rod Wilson and son Chris we were having a problem with the emergency door in The Commons that required immediate attention. It did, because the the person who entered it was LCpl. Elizabeth Wilson ‘20, surprising her father and grandfather for Christmas!

She, along with Cpl. Anthony Chismar are stationed with the Marines in Iwakuni, Japan. We thank them for their service and welcome them home! Click the image to watch the surprise!

Kosek Discovers Inner Artist in Every Student

“Everyone thinks that being ‘a good artist’ means that they can draw or paint realistically, but that's not true.”

Kate Kosek, who took over as AHN’s Art Teacher in the fall and says most people can draw realistically if they put in the time and effort to practice, but abstraction and alternative processes are just as valid.

Make Your Gift to AHN Work for You Now

As 2023 comes to a close, generosity is in full swing. Did you know that nonprofits receive nearly half of

their donations from individuals in the final quarter of each year? In this spirit of giving, we are sharing some

ways donors can maximizing their charitable impact.

Christmas Service Project

Thank you to all who purchased items for St. Catherine's Center for Children and/or came to assist with this year's wrapping party.

AHN is supporting the organization this year as part of its Christmas Community Service Project.

90 gifts in all were collected.

Happiness is a Warm Blanket

For their senior service project, Casey Noll and Nicole Decker (neither pictured) held a blanket-making event this week to benefit Project Linus.

Their fellow students joined in to lend helping hands. The blankets will be given to children in need at local hospitals.

Project Linus has delivered more than nine million blankets since 1995.

Stuffing Stockings for Veterans

Junior Julia Lynch organized a stocking stuffing event in Theology class. She will deliver them to veterans at the VA who are suffering from PTSD and other mental health issues.

Also, a big thank you to AHN’s Parent Association for donating these custom shirts for this year’s Holly Ball, as modeled by Student Council President, senior Nicole Decker.

The shirts, provided by our friends at Wicked Smart Apparel, were designed by junior Claire McGarry and senior Meredith Brown.

The Parent Association also provided the DJ for the evening.

Community Gathers for Christmas Concert, Festival of Wreaths

AHN held its annual Christmas Concert on Thursday.

Middle and high school choirs delighted attendees with the sounds of the season including "Do You Want to Build a Snowman" and ''Mary Did You Know."

All songs are available on our YouTube channel.

The 2nd Annual Festival of Wreaths took place during the concert's intermission, and featured wreaths crafted by students and faculty members.

Proceeds from the wreath raffle will benefit AHN's Youth Ministry program.
