10:30 am to 12:00 pm Eastern Daylight Time
In a consensus decision aimed at protecting the world from future pandemics, the World Health Assembly — the decision-making body of the WHO — proposed establishing a pandemic treaty at a special session held from Nov. 29 to Dec. 1, 2021. There are on-going global discussions about what topics such a legal instrument should cover. This Roundtable will highlight the importance of integrating the One Health (OH) approach into pandemic prevention and preparedness as part of a pandemic treaty. Drs. Andrea Winkler, Carlos das Neves, Katinka de Balogh, Suzanne Hindmarch, and Arne Ruckert will reflect on how well OH principles are currently embedded in global governance and what can be done to improve its uptake through the pandemic treaty. https://tinyurl.com/8mn6ad58

In 2018, Kazakhstan started exploring the One Health approach to zoonotic diseases with the conduction of the International Health Regulations Performance of Veterinary Services (IHR-PVS) National Bridging Workshop (NBW). The NBW is a three-day event facilitated by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE), bringing together public health and animal health participants..... In 2020, WHO started the global initiative to follow up and support the implementation of the NBW Roadmaps by establishing a One Health/NBW Catalyst network in countries that have completed NBWs. Kazakhstan was the first country with a One Health Catalyst position in the WHO country office filled at the beginning of 2021. By the end of 2021, the network included 11 countries with plans to expand to 15 in early 2022. https://tinyurl.com/k7xkzryb

Planetary health and one health concepts are currently not central to public health education [in Europe]; this is creating an unprepared workforce. Education that improves climate-health literacy helps build consensus and becomes the foundation for the acquisition of the expertise required to contribute to the solution of climate problems, build understanding of the gravity of the twin crises of climate and health, the urgency of the threat, awareness about what can be done and the skills to work with others to take the first steps…..6. CABI One Health, a new open access journal, due to be launched later this year as part of a new set of transdisciplinary One Health resources, is now open for submissions.
- One Health Cases will provide a growing database of peer-reviewed educational, practical cases, and will be an invaluable resource for students, teachers, academics, public stakeholders, and industry practitioners.
- A One Health Knowledge Bank will follow later this year, and will be a hub of relevant knowledge, information and data, including journal articles, cases, book chapters, curated species datasheets, and an extensive collection of hard-to-find grey literature in a single searchable database.

Hosted by NIAMMRE (the US National Institute of Antimicrobial Resistance Research and Education).
Targeting stakeholders involved in antimicrobial (antibacterial and antifungal) prescribing or decision-making from all One Health sectors, this hybrid program seeks to build diverse teams to initiate efforts addressing gaps in One Health Interprofessional Education in US professional health education systems. It brings together practitioners in the human, veterinary, and crop/environmental sectors to develop mutual understanding and language in pursuit of a shared core curriculum around antimicrobial stewardship and antimicrobial resistance. This program allows participants to compare and contrast perspectives from their One Health sector of antibiotic stewardship and prescribing/decision-making to those perspectives from other sectors in order to learn from each other and evaluate best practices.
