KRISTINA'S WEEKLY EMAIL OF THOUGHT-PROVOKING ESSAYS & VIDEOS TO KEEP YOU CONNECTED TO YOURSELF ON THIS JOURNEY CALLED LIFE
A NOTE FROM KRISTINA:
Greetings!

One year ago, nearly exact to the day, my PGG enewslettter of Friday, March 13th addressed the journey we were about to embark upon with my note: How to cope with (and benefit from) what you can't see during the time of corona.

For now, notice that this slowing down and containment forces us to focus on the quality, not the quantity of what we do and how we use our time, and with whom we spend (or don’t spend) it. What is the quality of the food you eat, the quality of the thoughts you think, the quality of the information you are consuming, the air that you breathe, the moments that you have? What about the quality of your communication and relationships? You now have time to do that journaling and think about who you are and what you are doing with your life. Who do you want to be and what do you want to do in a post-corona world? How can you build a quality inner foundation for yourself?

So as we mark this anniversary, with more and more things opening up along with the external, expansive energy of Spring just around the corner, why not take a little time this weekend to reflect on what you've learned and how you've grown over the past year. What do you want to let go of for good, what do you want to carry forward and become, and how can you feel more comfortable with the process, all of which today's PGG below touches on.

The PGG Video of the Week reminds you that we are human beings not human doings, and this week's Instagram post illustrates the concept of the acorn not becoming an oak tree overnight.

On a side note, how crazy is it that last Friday's PGG was entitled Power Puff, and then four days later I see "Powerpuff" trending on Twitter due to the announcement of a live action casting of the cartoon series, which I was in part giving a wink to with that choice of words but had absolutely no clue they were reviving?!? When I write or choose which PGG essays to re-run, I always tap into the zeitgeist to see what current themes I might address, but that was pretty darn literal lol!

And since it's Women's History Month and I've been celebrating the 20 year anniversary of The Women's Mosaic (TWM) (see the PGG note talking about it here), I've been adding photos of past events on the TWM Facebook Page, so those of you who were part of TWM (or curious about it) might want to take a stroll down memory lane there, and keep checking back. This Instagram post talks about how much of a personal growth experience this photo project has been for me.

Lastly, if you look forward to and benefit from these weekly missives and PGG essays and want to show your gratitude, any donations for my efforts are welcome and appreciated here: Paypal.me/kristinaleonardi. And as always, please feel free to contact me with any comments about anything.

Big hug <3

Out With the Old, In With the New
Originally published November 2, 2010

I have a friend who is going through a major transition, trying to figure out what to do next, how to reconcile his past and secure his future; he has been doing a lot of soul searching lately and excavating his talents, skills and passions. While he was in the process of shedding that old skin, I suggested he let go of his action-oriented descriptions, telling him, “You need to decide who you want TO BE not what you want TO DO.”

I am always recommending that folks spend time in and learn from Nature because Nature just IS. When talking about patience and process, my favorite saying is, The acorn does not become an oak tree overnight.

Also remember that an acorn has the inherent DNA to become an oak tree — it doesn’t question it. It just allows itself to unfold and grow as it should, but will look and feel different at every stage of the process.

Many of us have recently been confronted with doing things, working at jobs, being with people or having a particular attitude that may be good or bad, or we may or may not have enjoyed two, ten or fifteen years ago but still exist in our lives in some way that may no longer serve a purpose, if it ever did. It’s important to remember that as we evolve, we need to discern — just like those old clothes in the closet that you’ve outgrown or perhaps bought but never wore, or that simply don’t suit you anymore — who you were then is not who you are now, and adapt accordingly.

I have witnessed the remarkable transformations my clients have made (click here for one story). Because they commit to the process and then do the work, they are able to approach, interact and experience things in a vastly different way, and are stronger and wiser for the changes they have had to both endure and initiate.

Not quite sure if you’re an elm tree or an oak, or were one of those uprooted or lost during the storm? Give me a buzz and I can be the plutonium that powers your own personal time machine to let go of the past and go Back to the Future to dig around, make adjustments, and plant new seeds that will make the present moment the very best it can be!
