Serving the greater Edmonds community for over four decades.
In the beginning, they served 20 people per week. Today the food bank serves over 350 families each week and distributes 47,000 meals each month equating to 170,000 pounds of food.
Once the Edmonds Food Bank became certified from Volunteers of America Western Washington, they began collecting excess food from area grocery stores. Today volunteer drivers pick up donations from Costco, Fred Meyer, QFC, Safeway, Sprouts, Target, Trader Joe’s, WinCo and others.
“In our wildest dreams, we never thought we’d still be needed,” Peggy Kennedy said. “We keep trying to work ourselves out of business.”
