Empowering Women Entrepreneurs for a Brighter Future

South Bend, IN, December 15, 2023: In a milestone event at the 6th annual Women's Entrepreneur Summit, C2 Your Health Women's Initiative Inc. proudly celebrated the graduation of its 3rd class from the Women Entrepreneur Excellence Course and Certification program.

Founded by Cindy Cohen, C2 Your Health Women's Initiative Inc. responded to the 2012 U.S. Census report highlighting the underrepresentation of women-owned businesses. With 70% of women-owned businesses facing challenges like lack of role models, mentoring, resources, and confidence according to Entrepreneur.com, the initiative aimed to bridge these gaps.

Despite the positive trend in women's business ownership reported by the 2020 U.S. Census, St. Joseph County, IN, lags behind national growth by 32%, reporting only 12% of businesses being women-owned in 2023.

In 2019 the C2YHWI Women Entrepreneur Excellence mentoring program was launched and now in its third year, offers an 11-month, bi-weekly program (24 classes) with a rigorous leadership track. The curriculum includes business support, resource connections, leadership development, confidence building, and encouragement to dream big. The program operates from a tried and proven, evidenced-based, and is available both online and in-person, with a graduation cost of $432 for mentoring, course and certification and $216 for those opting out of certification. Limited scholarships provide the opportunity for reduced participant costs.

Applications for the January 2024 Cohort online classes are now open, with a deadline for submissions on January 31st. Interested candidates can apply for a pre-application interview at www.womenmoveforwardsignup.com.

The initiative's success is attributed to the support of community partners such as 1st Source Bank, The Pokagon Fund, Better World Books, H.O.T. Hear Our Tears, C2 Your Health LLC, and local women entrepreneurs. The program received the "Greatest Social Impact" award at the 2023 NDU Idea Center McCloskey New Venture competition for the work they are doing in the community.
