2021-22 School Theme: Celebrate Learning Together
|
|
Our Five Stars serve as guiding principles at Brookfield Academy. Beginning with our youngest scholars in the Primary School and Lower School, they are talked about at assemblies and brought to life both inside and outside the classrooms. At our assemblies this past week, students in the Primary and Lower Schools celebrated the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and how Brookfield Academy’s Five Stars lived in him.
Lower School students were asked what the Five Stars mean to them and how they, personally, can connect to the Five Stars. Here are a few of their responses:
Individuality - “The Star of Individuality is about people being different and you don’t have to be the same all the time and it's good to be different. If we were all the same then life would be boring.”
~ Harper Spaeth, Level 4
Truth - “The Star of Truth helps you learn your rights and wrongs. When Mr. Raney and Ms. Schwartz talk to us at assembly, they give us truths so we get to learn them.”
~ Teagan Tomchek, Level 3
Heritage - “The Star of Heritage means history, your country’s history and your family’s history. Heritage gives us the desire to learn so much and learn from our mistakes. Looking at your past helps you in your future studies. Dr. King valued his heritage and didn’t want others in the future to experience the same as he did. ”
~ Mohul Narayan, Level 5

COVID-19 UPDATES
-
Parents, please help us by monitoring students for COVID-19 symptoms and keeping students home if they show any signs of illness.
-
Reminder: Please contact your Division's Administrative Assistant if anyone in your family has had direct contact with someone testing positive for COVID-19. A direct contact is defined as being within six feet of someone without a mask for 15 minutes or more. When making determinations about these situations, we will consider this definition; however, under certain circumstances, we may find it in the best interest of our students to expand upon this definition of direct contact. It is our intention to always do what is most necessary to keep our students, staff, and faculty safe.

Ongoing Updates: In addition to weekly newsletter updates, wellness protocols and other information are available in the MyBA parent portal under the COVID-19 School Updates.
