Summer 2017 Internship Highlights

This summer Alejandro Romero is interning at Codina Partners, real estate investment and development firm driving the successful transformation of South Florida's communities into more vital, prosperous centers for living, working, culture and commerce.

Currently, Codina Partners is involved in mixed-use, industrial, single family, multi-family and office projects that are developing transformational real estate that delivers long-term value for all. The firm combines decades of local experience with a fresh, entrepreneurial approach.

Alejandro's summer internship involves closely shadowing the Vice President of Industrial for Codina Partners.  They are involved in the early stage of a new industrial park that the company is planning to develop in the heavily pursued South Florida market.  As an intern, Alejandro has had the opportunity to be involved in research for a market study of the different industrial parks in the market, participate in the presentations and negotiations with possible institutional investors, and in the planning of meetings with architects and engineers.

Brandon Bonfils has been interning at Rutenberg NYC this summer. Collaborating firsthand and with some of New York City's top Real Estate agents, he has entirely immersed himself in the fast-paced environment that NYC is best known for. Some of the projects that he has taken on include carrying out tasks such as; Property valuation, cold calling, client relations, market analysis, and property sales. Proudly claimed The Smart Brokers, Rutenberg is the 5th largest and fastest growing firm in NYC. Brandon state that "Interning at Rutenberg has been an enlightening experience".

Katie Lynch has been interning at Duff and Phelps this past summer. Duff and Phelps is an independent valuation and corporate finance advisory firm that works to help clients make sound financial decisions. The Real Estate Advisory Group provides support for client's commercial real estate investments and transactions, asset and portfolio management, and financing and debt advisory.

As part of the real estate advisory group, she has been learning how to determine the market value of properties by using the three approaches: the sales comparison approach, the cost approach, and the income approach. This has been done through modelling the properties on Excel and Argus, and gathering supporting market research on CoStar. While working on learning based projects, Katie has also assisted the team with quarterly valuations of client's portfolios and have worked with other offices across the country in determining market values for properties located around the world. She is excited to present her final project at the end of the summer - an offering memorandum showcasing an investment opportunity - which will bring together all of the skills and knowledge that she will have learned over the summer.
