SacEV Reports Record EV Sales in Sacramento
|
|
The latest EV sales stats are in and Sacramento region Q3 has 1 in 4 new car sales as an EV. For the state it's over 26%. With over 95,000 EV sold in our region, we're on track to about 100,000 EV sales by the end of the year.

Hertz CEO, Stehen Scherr, announced a slow down of EV implementation, stating, “Collision and damage repairs on an EV can often run about twice that associated with a comparable combustion engine vehicle.”

GM Battery Lawsuit Payment
|
|
GM is offering Bolt owners a $1,400 payment to settle the class action lawsuit over the recall of 2020-2022 vehicles because of battery fire problems.

DOE Proposes MPGe Ratings for EVs
|
|
The DOE is reassessing the energy efficiency of gasoline-powered vehicles versus EVs for calculating CAFE compliance. Using uniform evaluation standards, the Ford Lightning would drop from 237.7 to 67.1 mpg. The VW ID.4 would drop from 380.6 to 107.4 mpg.

BP has spent $100M on Tesla 250kW chargers, as part of their commitment to spend $1B by 2030. The first $100M purchase will support charging hubs and some BP stations.

After a rapid price increase for EVs in 2022, used EV prices have now dropped 32% year over year according to data from Marketcheck.

EV OEMs Pulling Back on Targets
|
|
Following third quarter sales results, major EV OEMs including GM, Mercedes and Ford are pulling back on their EV manufacturing targets, citing slow sales and a “Brutal” sales environment.

Energy Choice Act Proposed
|
|
Congressman Nick Langworthy has introduced the Energy Choice Act that would prohibit states or local governments from banning an energy service’s connection, reconnection, modification, installation, or expansion based on the type or source of energy to be delivered. The Propane industry has filed a lawsuit on this same issue.

Phillips 66 Renewables Q1 2024
|
|
Phillips 66 has confirmed that their Rodeo, CA refinery will begin production of 50,000 barrels per day of renewable fuels in Q1, 2024.

Ford Delays Battery Factory
|
|
Ford has announced that they will delay the second of two planned battery manufacturing plants in Kentucky. They cite the reduced demand for EVs as the reason for the delay.
