Dear Friends,
I’m pleased to invite and encourage your presence and participation at the 2024 Annual Meeting on Sunday, January 28 at 9:15 a.m. in the Community Room. We will be live-streaming the meeting via Zoom again this year, but will return to the pre-COVID practice of requiring that members must be present to vote. Votes will be cast to approve the Cathedral’s budget and to set Council and Executive Committee membership.
We’ll be electing successors for Treasurer Ted Sherman and Council members David Albrecht and Chris Kirwan. The Senior Warden, Junior Warden, Treasurer, and Clerk (Brian Childs, David Vaughan, Ted Sherman, and Kyle Smith, respectively) are elected annually. The nominating committee has not yet released a full list of nominees, and we will publish that information when it’s received. Additional candidates for Senior or Junior Warden, Treasurer, Clerk, or Council Member must declare their candidacy on or before Sunday, January 21 to Governance Chair Drew Moratzka at andrew.moratzka@stoel.com. Nominations from the floor will not be received.
Episcopal Church Canons I.14 and I.17 require that to vote in or stand for the election, you must be an Adult Communicant in Good Standing (at least 16 years old, having received Holy Communion in this Church at least three times during the preceding year, and for the previous year having been faithful in corporate worship, unless for good cause prevented, and having been faithful in working, praying, and giving for the spread of the Kingdom of God.)
Next Sunday, January 21, 2024, at 9:15 a.m., Cathedral leadership will convene a discussion concerning St. Mark’s proposed 2024 budget. This will be an important conversation ahead of the Annual Meeting, and we very much hope you can attend and participate.
This year is an important period of transition and discernment in the life of the Cathedral. Please plan to join us to shape the ongoing mission and ministry of this holy place, and pray that our actions will reflect the will of God. It is a privilege to serve with you.
Faithfully yours,
Lane Hensley
Interim Dean
