It's been a while since we have sent communications or heard from folks. We hope that you all are well and enjoying Military Appreciation Month. Cobb Commissioner Richardson is holding a series of town halls introducing members of her community cabinet. This Saturday, there will be a town hall with her Veterans Affairs liaison, Daniel Hydrick. This is an opportunity to discuss with Commissioner Richardson and Dan as they describe their goals and projects for veterans affairs in Cobb.

The town hall will take place this Saturday, May 22, at 12pm over Zoom.

NAMI Homefront Classes for 2021
NAMI Homefront is a free, six-session class for family, friends, and significant others of Military Service Members and Veterans. The class helps families comprehend what the Military Service Member/ Veteran is experiencing related to trauma, combat stress, civilian life, PTSD, and other mental health conditions. Topics covered include mental health, communication, handling crises, treatment, and recovery.

We Care Resource Fair
The Cobb Collaborative was pleased to participate in the We Care Resource Fair at Dobbins on May 1. Great way to kick off Mental Health Awareness Month. We shared resources like the GCAL and COVID-19 Emotional Support Hotline, suicide awareness training opportunities, journals and journaling tip sheets and more. Great day!
Suicide Awareness & Prevention Trainings
As part of our Mind Your Mind mental health campaign, we want to increase the number of gatekeepers in our community. Be a part of this work by participating in one of our suicide prevention offerings.

The FY 2021 Veterans Housing Rehabilitation and Modification Pilot Program | HUD.gov / U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is a competitive grant funded through the Carl Levin and Howard P. “Buck” McKeon National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2015. This opportunity is focused specifically on providing low-income veterans with disabilities, adaptive housing to help them regain and maintain their independence.
