New to the Ogden PTC Newsletter this week...
Calling all scientists and inventors! The D102 STEM EXPO is coming March 2. Also, be sure to sign up for additional Fun Lunches just added to the calendar, which will now happen 2Xs/month. And be sure to check out info about Park Tutors for elementary students. A few lunch clubs (not to be confused with fun lunch) are also coming back!
Lastly, take it easy getting ready tomorrow morning ... Don't forget Friday is Pajama Day sponsored by Ogden's Student Council. And Friday night is Ogden's BOYS' NIGHT OUT, which you won't want to miss.

Boys' Night Out ...This Friday! | |
The annual mother/special person and son event (now Boys' Night Out) is scheduled for tomorrow night, January 26th from 5:30-7pm in the MPR and gym at Ogden!

Panther Glow Run Fundraiser | |
Panther Glow Run is an Ogden fundraiser where students run laps in the gym on Friday, Feb. 9 during the day to raise funds to support our school.
Our school has always relied on fundraising to provide exceptional opportunities to enhance student learning. There is no pressure to give, but we invite you to help our school by registering your student(s) and sharing with friends and family. Look out for more information in the coming weeks.

Junior Detectives Lunch Clubs | |
Junior Detectives Lunch Clubs are back!
Be on the lookout in next week's newsletter for sign ups for a 2nd Grade Junior Detectives Book Club and a separate 5th Grade Junior Detectives Book Club. Both clubs plan to meet during lunch one day a week beginning in Feb.
The PTC would like to offer lunch clubs to as many students as we can. If you are interested in leading your own Junior Detectives Lunch Club or another type of lunch club during this school year or next, please email ogdenptc@gmail.com.

Join Connie Martin at the La Grange Area Historical Society as she tells the stories passed down from her great-grandmother of how her family survived the antebellum period through trials and tribulations, and how they used quilts that contained hidden codes and secret messages to assist abolitionists–white and black–to guide enslaved people to freedom through the Underground Railroad to Canada. Drag Brunch Fundraiser...SELLING OUT! | |
Save the date once again for Ogden Trivia Night... a fun-filled, adults-only night to exercise your useless knowledge hosted and scored by none other than Hambone Trivia!
Registration opens on a first-come, first served basis Wed, Jan. 31!
Teams of 10 compete for prizes, bragging rights, and the title of Top Trivia champions. It will be a night of laughs, brain teasers, and most importantly, fundraising for Ogden students.
Saturday, Feb 24th

7 p.m. Doors open
7:30 pm Trivia begins
Space is limited to the first 30 teams of 10 who sign up and pay their table entrance fee ($350 per table of 10 players). One Captain for each team will be responsible for team registration, payment and all communications regarding event including beverages and snacks (more details to come after registration).
Don’t have a team? No problem, we can help form teams among Ogden families looking to join forces. See our contact info below.
**NEW THIS YEAR** Come dressed to impress! Each team is encouraged to show up in a themed group costume. Extra prizes will be given out for team costumes and most clever team names!

Recycle with the Green Team
Ogden's Green Team is collecting many different items for recycling:
- Personal Care–all brands, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, etc.
- Oral Care–Old toothbrushes, empty toothpaste tubes, floss and mouthwash containers
- Broken holiday lights
- Lonely and holey socks
Please make sure the containers are as empty as possible and the socks are clean.

STEM EXPO 2024 is coming soon
Saturday, March 2nd, 2024
On March 2nd, STEM EXPO will showcase the talents of District 102 students in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and creative Making. STEM EXPO provides an egg-cellent opportunity for students from kindergarten–6th grade to explore a science topic of their choice. We encourage you to use your creative and inventive skills to create a project at home and share what you learned with other students, families, and teachers at EXPO. Projects range in complexity from simple observations to full experiments, inventions or technology projects.
Who: All students grades K–6
When: Saturday, March 2, 2024 9:00 am–Noon
Set-up is Friday, March 1 4:00–5:30 pm
Where: Forest Road School Gym

All participants will receive a participation certificate and this year’s STEM EXPO T-shirt. Register on or before Feb 17th to be guaranteed your T-shirt size. Exhibits will not be judged; students/teams will be assigned a 1/2 hour time period when they will be required to be at their table to answer questions and explain their project to an EXPO Official.
