A Peek into Our Programming!

Virtual Science Clubs are in full swing and the girls have learned so much about Planet Earth! The mentors have guided them in creating biomes, model habitats for animals in different environments, and crafting using recycled materials.

Our Junior Mentors have also been hard at work producing #WeekInReview videos to recap each week’s lesson and project. Videos for Weeks 1 through 4 are on our Facebook and YouTube page.

Alongside clubs, #SCFGLive, our LIVE Science Show starring Hannah, Nimisha, and Dr. Marbles has been streaming every Friday at 4PM on our Facebook page! So far in Season 2, we’ve learned about amphibians, density, solutions and more! Click here to read more on our blog.
Welcome to Our New Interns!

We are thrilled to introduce you to our new interns who have been working diligently on our team since this past January!

Carla recruits participants for our virtual clubs, creates instructional videos to guide our mentors, and is a third semester volunteer mentor. Anicia creates content for our social media pages, contributes to our monthly e-newsletter, and is a second semester volunteer mentor. Nimisha stars on #SCFGLive alongside Hannah and Dr. Marbles, works alongside Carla creating informational videos, and is a first time volunteer mentor.

Thank you to the Women's Foundation of Boston and UTeach Umass Boston for funding our interns. We’re so grateful for our growing “small but mighty” team! Check out our blog to read more about Carla, Anicia, and Nimisha.
iPondr Interview featuring Tiye, Angell, and Dr. Bertolaet

On Wednesday, March 23rd, Laura Hernández from iPondr interviewed three long-time members of our community: Tiye (current Mentor and former participant), Angell (current Junior Mentor and former participant), and Dr. Bonnie Bertolaet (SCFG Executive Director). Their conversation addressed how Science Club for Girls has been uplifting girls and cultivating their excitement for science for over 26 years and increasing diversity, equity, and inclusion in the STEM fields.

Angell, currently a high school senior, shared, "For me, Science Club for Girls means that I have a family supporting me wherever I am." Tiye, a sophomore at Howard University, added, “I have felt more comfortable [in my science classes] because I knew that I had learned it from Science Club.”

Click here to listen to the full podcast conversation, and be sure to join on Thursday, April 8th for our Catalyst Awards to hear more from Tiye and Angell about their growth over the years with Science Club for Girls!

Supporter Spotlight

This month we are thrilled to highlight our wonderful partnership with Merck! From providing volunteers to clean up and organize supplies, to providing mentors in our virtual clubs, to supporting our work financially through their $25,000 ‘Neighbor of Choice’ grant award two years in a row -- Merck has done it all! We are so grateful to our friends at Merck and their deep commitment to supporting the mission of Science Club for Girls!
We may not be together—but we can still be social! Join us on:
About Science Club for Girls

SCFG fosters excitement, confidence and literacy in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics for girls from underrepresented communities by providing free, experiential programs. With women making up less than 24 percent of the STEM workforce—and Black and Hispanic women at less than four percent—SCFG addresses a critical need, offering a continuum of engaging activities in STEM for K-8 girls, leadership experiences for high school girls, and adult mentoring by committed women in STEM.
