Wishing You Wellness This Doctor's Day
Marwan Baghdan, MD | Regional Medical Director, APP South Region | Advocate South Sub. Medical Director
Bob Belter, MD | Regional Medical Director, APP North Region | Advocate Good Shep. Medical Director
On March 30, we will recognize National Doctor’s Day – a day to lift up our physicians for all you do for our patients every day and to give special thanks for the sacrifice and commitment you’ve made over the past year of the pandemic. Your resilience has certainly been tested through these many challenges and uncertainties. On this Doctor’s Day, we ask you to join us in taking time to pause, re-charge and focus on your own wellness and well-being.
Celebrating Our Doctors
As we look forward to celebrating National Doctor’s Day on March 30, we thank you for your tireless efforts through the pandemic and the exceptional care you provide your patients every day. Over the next two weeks, we’re sharing our physicians’ stories of their passion for medicine and for helping people live well – including their personal encouragement for people to get the vaccine when it is their turn. Please check out these stories below and look for more great content across our social media channels. To all of our physicians – thank you for all you do today and every day!
For Justin Cohen, MD, chair of Advocate Physician Partners, his idea of what it takes to be a doctor is a bit different from what he thought at age 17 compared to now.
Emelie Ilarde, MD, Advocate Christ PHO president, believes the best part of her job is caring for patients from birth through adulthood, like the college-bound patient she delivered as a baby and has cared for ever since.
Dr. Cohen also reflects on the important work taking place across APP:

"By working collectively to improve the medical system, we can make a positive impact for every patient – not just our own – as well as for others who decide to pursue a career in medicine. I’m excited about the work we’re doing to come together as one virtual medical group. It’s a challenge to be sure, but it’s one we can overcome together."

COVID-19 Updates
Expanding vaccine eligibility to our patients

Our supplies are increasing, and we are offering the COVID-19 vaccine to more of our patients within CDC and state prioritization guidelines. Our states, cities and counties are expanding eligibility differently, and therefore, our ability to expand to more of our patients will vary within each state and be based on available supply.

Who is eligible? Advocate Aurora is now vaccinating current patients in the following groups in IL:

We define our current patients as anyone who has had at least one encounter with Advocate Aurora in the past 2 years or a scheduled appointment in the next 3 months. However, APP patients who are covered by one of the following insurance plans, but have not had an Advocate Aurora encounter in the past 2 years, are also considered current patients and can schedule an appointment.

Additional updates

  • Expanding COVID-19 testing: We’re now offering COVID-19 testing for anyone who needs it – regardless of symptoms or exposure – at our immediate and urgent care centers, with highly reliable results within 48 hours. Consumers may request a test by walking in, scheduling via the LiveWell app or calling the COVID-19 Hotline. See this overview for details.
  • Pre-procedure testing guidance: Effective March 29, we’re modifying our self-quarantine requirement for pre-procedure patients following COVID-19 testing. Please review this SBAR for details.
  • Vaccine talking points: We continue to develop resources to support you in conversations with your patients. Review the latest: Engaging in COVID-19 Vaccine Conversations | Cultural relevancy talking points
