THIS SUNDAY'S SERVICE
WORSHIP COMMITTEE
Sunday, May 16 at 10:15 a.m. via Livestream

This year we will celebrate not only the many beautiful “flowers” in our congregation, but also the many ways in which we have reached out to help or to stay connected. Both before and during the service, we will have an opportunity for you to share a way in which you or someone else has reached out to others during this difficult time. Following the service, we have an exchange of flowers outside.
SUBMITTING JOYS AND SORROWS

Please send your joys or sorrows to joysandsorrows@uucuc.org any time before the Joys and Sorrows portion of the service. They will be read aloud.
FELLOWSHIP HOUR BEGINS IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE SERVICE
Join our online Zoom Fellowship Hour after the service on Sunday (around 11:30 a.m.). Come chat with UUCUC members and friends! All are welcome.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROSITY!
Your contributions and support allow us to continue to respond with love and resources to the needs in our congregation and the wider community. We couldn’t do it without your support and we are grateful to each of you.

If you have missed any of the previous live streamed services, you can view them at our past streamed services page. You can also view previous live streamed services on our YouTube channel.

NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS
New adult religious education offerings for 2021 have been announced in the Adult Religious Education Prospectus earlier this month. It promises to be a fun semester of classes, workshops, discussion and creative learning. The adult religious education committee is working on new programs to be added to this semester’s program. Keep an eye here for updates! Also, updates will be included in the eNews and on the church calendar.
OUR CARING CONGREGATION
Please consider donating to the Little Free Pantries run by Julie Laut and AJ Herzog, which they have kept active daily since late spring. In order to address increased and unique needs this winter, they have created an Amazon wish list. All items will be delivered to Julie's house and shared between the two pantries. Donations of all items will continue to be accepted as usual at both locations, if you want to bring them in person.

Thank you for your support and generosity ~ Julie and AJ
JOYS AND SORROWS sent to joysandsorrows@uucuc.org last Sunday, May 9.
From Beth Stafford: Had reconstructive surgery last Wednesday after breaking two bones in a foot. Still trying to get into Meadowbrook but has not gotten a response there or from Clark-Lindsey home care team. Niece who's been taking care of me needs to return to her home in Chicago. Please keep me in your thoughts. Many thanks.

From Jenny and Kristi: Feeling deep sorrow and anger at the bombing of the school in Kabul, Afghanistan killing several dozen young girls. Disbelief.

From Cindy Ingold: Very grateful to my mother Genie Ingold who gave birth to me on this day, 61 years ago. I miss her every day.

From Frances Kramer: I’m so grateful my mother was in my life as long as she was and how she helped me be a better mom. Kim Kramer

From Nancy Parker: A sorrow and sadness in my first Mother’s Day without my own mother- and joy in the circle of life as the year my own daughter births her daughter.
Thank you to Sylvia and Brian for delivering my UUCUC auction plant. It is thriving!

Please send your joys or sorrows to joysandsorrows@uucuc.org any time before the Joys and Sorrows portion of the service. They will be read aloud.
GIVING AND GRATITUDE
UUCUC Social Action Offering. Each month a selected organization is chosen to receive offerings from our congregation. You may donate to the social action offering for the month in one of the following ways:

During the month of May, we will support Equal Justice Initiative through our social action offering. Founded in 1989, the Equal Justice Initiative (EJI) is a private, nonprofit organization that provides legal representation to people who have been illegally convicted, unfairly sentenced, or abused in state jails and prisons. They challenge the death penalty and excessive punishment and provide re-entry assistance to formerly incarcerated people.
RECENT SHARED OFFERINGS

During the month of April 2021, Prairie Rivers Network was selected to be the recipient of the shared offering. As of May 11, the UUCUC congregation contributed a total of $2,420!
