Learning opportunity with Community Unity Steering team led by LIfewiseStL Urban Forum Team
The Community Unity Steering Team is inviting MUMC church leadership to join them in a series of learning experiences led by the Lifewise STL Urban Forum Team. These classes will help inform our next steps forward. Classes will have an emphasis on the impact of race and the information presented will be tailored to fit the needs of the MRH school district area. This will be an eye opening experience for many of us to step into the shoes of those who are in need of additional support. Hopefully, these classes will help us to learn what kind of support families need.
Making Ends Meet: Feb 4 and 18th lunch at 12:15, sessions start at 12:45
This session helps participants better understand the challenges under-resourced families face in making ends meet. It involves an online simulation, pair & share and group discussions, as well as review of available data regarding the St. Louis area.
Roll of the Dice: March 3 and March 10th lunch at 12:15, sessions start at 12:45
Intergroup Monopoly is an action teaching game that modifies the classic Monopoly board game to explore the dynamics of group-based inequality. The goals of this session will be to illustrate the structural dynamics and consequences of intergroup inequalities, illuminate the interdependencies between income and housing, and engage the need for interventions that actively address the enduring effects of prior group-based disadvantages.
All are welcome and are encouraged to join us on this learning journey.
