A Message from your Parish Staff

I think that every family has a story of a child’s ball breaking a window. Our story is more of a child throwing a rock and chipping the neighbor’s windshield. The shining moment for us was that our child did not hide it. He told us right away and we were able to make it right with the neighbor and I was able to practice patience and love with my child. Whenever I think about rocks through windows I think of Bishop Fulton Sheen who used this example to explain our love for God. Often times our love begins in fear. I don’t want to go to hell so I don’t sin. Over time our love for God should move to a place of true love. I love God so much that I don’t want to hurt him with my sin. I can only imagine if my child had run up to me and said I threw the rock and I am so sad because I love you and I never want to hurt you verses I broke the window what is going to happen to me.
The pandemic has been challenging me on not just how do I love God, but how do I love his people. Do I love them for my benefit or because they are a beautiful children of God? I have to tell you that for me it is much easier to love God from a place of purity. After all he is God, and He loves me no matter what, and he wants the best for me. People not so much, and there is the challenge. This really hit home for me when I was thinking about the Covid Vaccination. I realized that I wanted people to get it for me. So that I would be safe, my kids would be safe, and the pandemic would end. Then I heard a story about someone asking a friend about the vaccine. He came to her out of a place of love. He did not want her to be hurt or sick because he loved her. It wasn’t about him it was about his love for her. Ever since then I have been praying that God would change my heart. That he would help me choose for love.
As I am writing this God is convicting me about how this is about so much more than vaccinations and the pandemic. What if I approached every person or situation in my life focused on love of the other and not on my own selfishness? All of my relationships would be healthier. I guess all of St. Vincent’s now knows what I need to work on.

Facility Usage
We look forward to opening our facilities to all of our parish groups as we did pre-Covid. We have faith that this day will come soon. However, in the interest of keeping our parishioners safe during this latest surge of Covid-19, we are only scheduling space inside our campus buildings for staff directed faith formation ministry, liturgical ministry, and school related activities for the time being. Once we get past this surge, we will send a notice to all of our wonderful groups that have used our facilities in the past that we are able to resume scheduling. In the meantime, you are welcome to take advantage of the beautiful weather and enjoy finding spaces to meet outside after school hours. We are grateful for your support and understanding.
