A Celebration of Winter

Enjoy a delightful celebration of winter in classic poetry, art, and choral song. Poems by Robert Frost, Christina Rossetti, Avrom Sutzkever, Emily Dickinson, Edgar Allan Poe, and John Clare are paired with works of art that enhance their mood and meaning, then matched with beautiful songs in a PowerPoint presentation on Zoom by Jerry Matovcik. Wednesday, January 26th, 11 a.m. to Noon.

Bagpipes are Calling: A Documentary
Celebrate the Celtic spirit with a free viewing of  Bagpipes Calling! – as it lives on through the members of a lively bagpipe band from Long Island, N.Y. Weaving together music, history and culture, the film captures a behind the scenes experience of life in the band during its most festive season. The film features the extraordinary talent of Luke Powers on the Uilleann (Irish) pipes and the Great Highland (Scottish) Bagpipes, Tom Falco on guitar, Long Island's own Northport Pipe & Drum Band, and the beloved owner of the Grey Horse Tavern, Linda Ringhouse.

Then join our Zoom meeting on Thursday, March 3rd for a live Q & A with filmer and director Andrea Wozny.
Handling Driving Emergencies

Macbeth
Join us, on Zoom, for an enlightening discussion of one of Shakespeare’s most fearsome of tragedies. Macbeth’s tragic self-assertion leads to the deaths of all those around him. A timely play in 1606, during the reign of the Scottish king, King James I, and in the aftermath of the Gunpowder Plot to blow up Parliament, and also a timely play today. The Mattituck-Laurel Library is now part of the 1000 Books before Kindergarten
Starting on Monday, January 10.
Mattituck-Laurel Library is a proud participant in the 1,000 Books before Kindergarten nationwide initiative. The concept is simple, the rewards are priceless. Read a book (any book) to your newborn, infant, and/or toddler. The goal is to have read 1,000 books (yes, you can repeat books) before your child starts kindergarten. Are you ready to get started? Come down to the Children’s Room to pick up your free packet.

Navigating College Admissions

We are offering this Zoom presentation to help families understand how COVID-19 has changed the college admissions landscape and how it affects Juniors, Sophomores and Freshmen. We'll examine the holistic admissions review process, what admissions officers consider important when they review applicants, and how students can position themselves to develop a compelling narrative to increase their chances for admission. The presentation will be led by Ron Feuchs and Jackie Tepper, partners at Stand Out For College, LLC.

For high school students and parents, no registration required.
Washi Tape Heart Art

Design your own work of heart using washi tape, our heart template and cardstock paper. You will be provided with lots of washi tape designs, so the possibilities are endless. When your design is complete, you can place it in the provided picture frame and display it however you'd like, OR give it as a gift to let someone know how much you love them.
