Come see the Farm awaken in spring with the return of livestock and animals, historic gardening, scavenger hunts, talks and walks, and beautiful grounds for exploring and spending the day. Spring Agricultural Weekend
April 9-10, 2022
Coggeshall’s agriculture season kicks off on April 9th and 10th with a showcase of heritage breed livestock, historic gardening, farming practices, and the tools of the trade. See how 18th-century farm families would prepare for the growing season.
- Help plant seeds in the garden
- Watch a timed demonstration of forging a grub hoe in the Blacksmith Shop
- Meet our sheep, chickens, and pigs as well as guest goats from our friends at Gnarly Vines Farm.
- Visit with our guest team of Ayrshire oxen, Ned and Buster, and see them help plow the garden to prepare for another growing season.
- Learn about soil health and how animals play a vital role in the gardens and fields
- Stroll through our nature walk
PLUS: On April 9th and 10th, Coggeshall Farm Museum and Old Sturbridge Village members are invited to bring up to two free guests to Coggeshall Farm Museum.
Spring Celebration
April 14-16, 2022
Celebrate the start of spring by looking at the history of welcoming the spring season around the world. In addition to an egg scavenger hunt and rabbits, our farmhouse will be alive with demonstrations and a portrayal of 18th-century life. Earth Week
April 21-24, 2022
Visitors will have the chance to help work Coggeshall’s Kitchen Garden for the upcoming season, meet our sheep, pigs, and chickens, and learn about how historic practices can guide us to a more environmentally friendly life in the modern world. Guests can explore the farm at their own pace and most demonstrations happen throughout the day or multiple times throughout the day. There will also be a few special timed talks; Farming, Trees, and Deforestation, For the Birds!, and The Beautiful Salt Marsh. Girl Scout Days
April 12, 2022 and April 19, 2022
Join Coggeshall Farm Museum for a fun-filled day just for Girl Scouts! Scouts will travel back in time to experience the life of 18th-century children. Learn colonial crafts, meet our animals, watch a blacksmithing demonstration, cook a snack, and get hands-on in history with our interpreters and educators.
