The National Eagle Scout Association established the Glenn A. and Melinda W. Adams National Eagle Scout Service Project of the Year Award (ESSPY) to recognize valuable service of an exceptional nature by an Eagle Scout candidate to a religious institution, school, community or other entity through completion of an Eagle Scout project. Completed nomination forms should be submitted to Pam Miscikowski no later than January 31st, 2024.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, our Citizenship in Society Merit Badge Orientation, scheduled for January 21st, has been postponed to March 3rd, 2024. The HOVC Advancement Committee is pleased to offer Orientation sessions, for those selected by their units, to be Citizenship in Society Merit Badge Counselors. Please remember that we need each Troop to have a designated Citizenship in Society Merit Badge Counselor in order to fulfill the objectives of the badge.

The Sunday that falls before February 8 (Scouting Anniversary Day) is designated as Scout Sunday, the primary date to recognize the contributions of young people and adults to Scouting. This year, Scout Sunday falls on February 4th! The Scout Shop is accepting orders for the 2024 participant patches. Please visit their Facebook page or see them in person at 8090 Villa Park Drive to complete an order form and ensure your unit has them available for your Scouts.
