As the Skokie Park District operates in Phase 4 of the
Restore Illinois Plan, the following are reminders and news updates for this week.

The Skokie Park District Virtual Summer Camp Open House will consist of 23 unique camp presentations, all of which will run for five minutes each!
After joining the Zoom meeting, each camp will feature a designated breakout room with a specific time slot that will consist of a brief overview of the camp schedule and activities, and an opportunity to ask questions of the camp supervisor.
Important: You may have to update to the 5.5.2 version of Zoom, in order to access the break-out rooms during the camp open house.

'The Radio Play Disaster' hits Devonshire Playhouse
|
If you were chilled by "War of the Worlds," then you will be thrilled with "The Radio Play Disaster!"
In the show, self-proclaimed genius Harlan Bean is ready to make history with his science-fiction radio masterpiece Battle of the Planets. But when the broadcast is in the hands of an ambitious actress with her own vision for her character, several terrified last-minute replacements jumping in, and a disgruntled sound engineer out for revenge, the mayhem in the studio makes an alien invasion look like a piece of cake. 'Radio' goes hilariously off the rails in this flexible theater piece. This classic radio play is the perfect entertainment for our limited in-person audience and for live streaming in the comfort of your home.

Join us for Winter Chilly Fest at Emily Oaks!
|
At this year's revised Winter Chilly Fest, walk through a magical, lighted winter woodland, while following the adventures of the Night Light Kid!
Read how this comic strip hero sheds light on fears of the night as you search for animal silhouettes along the trail. Then gather around a fire and enjoy hot cocoa and s’mores.
February 20 & 21, 5-8 p.m.
This is a timed-entry event. Face masks are required, and physical distancing is mandatory while drinking and eating. Please note that ice skating and a chili dinner will not be offered in conjunction with the event this year.
Admission: $8/person.

Help us with Random Acts of Kindness 'Senior Style'
|
These have been tough times, especially for Skokie seniors who live alone.
With that in mind, the Skokie Park District and NorthShore University HealthSystem are teaming up to compile a list of senior Skokie residents who live alone and could benefit from a goody bag stocked full of snacks and other surprises that will be hand-delivered by our staff on National Random Acts of Kindness Day.
Please email Aryn Fletcher with the name and address of someone over 65 who fits the bill, no later than Sunday, February 14. We will be delivering all goody bags on Wednesday, February 17.
If you don't know a senior living alone, you can simply donate individually wrapped snacks, hand sanitizers, fun household items or any other nice surprise items. Donations may be dropped off at the Oakton Community Center anytime between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., on Monday, February 15.

Devonshire Preschool 2021-22 enrollment coming soon! |
Devonshire Preschool is an arts-focused early childhood program offering state-of-the-art classrooms for 3- and 4-year-olds. Parents will love this developmentally-appropriate curriculum that fosters their child’s social, emotional, language, physical and intellectual growth. Teachers degreed in early childhood education plan activities around a weekly theme.

Member meetings are back! |
For members of Fitness First, 'Friends of Fitness First' meetings will begin again via Zoom on February 25 at 6 p.m. These meetings will be a forum for sharing upcoming Fitness First schedules, events, and upcoming changes. There will also be an opportunity for members to ask questions and make suggestions.
Three additional meetings are scheduled for:
May 20 at 6 p.m.
August 26 at 6 p.m.
November 18 at 6 p.m.
Links for future meetings will be posted on the website and shared prior to each meeting via the weekly updates and via Fitness First's Facebook and Instagram accounts.
