Dear Membership, I am delighted to announce the outcome of the Board of Directors elections with the re-election of Court Rich and Jessica Reinhardt to the AriSEIA Board of Directors. Court Rich is the Co-Founder of Rose Law Group and is Director of the firm’s Renewable Energy Department. He has personally been involved in every major issue the solar industry has faced over the last 13-years, and for much of the last decade has served on the AriSEIA Board of Directors. He most recently served the association in the capacity of the Vice President.  Jessica Reinhardt currently serves as Senior Director of Public Policy for Sunrun with more than 15 years of diverse policy experience. For the past 3 years, Jessica has managed Sunrun’s advocacy efforts to advance the deployment of residential solar, energy storage, and grid services across most of the country, with a particular focus on Arizona and the Southwest. She has previously served on the AriSEIA Board of Directors for the last 3 years.    The re-elected members join existing board members Sara Birmingham (Secretary), Luke Alm (Treasurer), Mark Holohan (Board Member), Jake Bastian (Board Member) and John Mitman (Board Member). Please join me in congratulating both Court and Jessica on their re-election to the Board of Directors! AriSEIA’s mission is to develop and support policies which create opportunities to advance Arizona’s economy through solar energy and storage. Mark Your Calendar: Codes & Permitting Subcommittee Meeting

Attention AriSEIA Members! A quick reminder that we will be hosting our first Codes and Permitting Subcommittee, chaired by John Mitman from our Board of Directors on February 18, 2021 at 3:00 – 4:00 p.m.  The intent of this subcommittee is to examine the “friendliness” of authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ) in permitting of solar-storage projects. Our mission is to provide an industry resource and perspective to the various jurisdictions to streamline permitting processes, timelines, and fees associated with residential, commercial, and/or utility-scale projects. After gathering AriSEIA membership feedback on relevant permitting experiences, we will pursue top-down conversations with the various AHJ leadership to create a more collaborative, compliance-oriented, and logical strategy for permitting in the state.  Register in advance for this meeting HERE. Call to ACTION: Update On HB2248

Important Call to Action! This week the House of Representatives Rules Committee approved (HB2248). The bill would remove the ability of the Arizona Corporation Commission to solely act on the Clean Energy Rules package passed last year or to regulate utilities’ power generation procurement activities. For years, the legislature has worked to pass policies that create jobs, drive economic certainty and make Arizona attractive for business. The passage of HB 2248 will usurp these efforts effectively creating regulatory uncertainty for businesses who wish to conduct, expand or relocate to Arizona. Is this really the time to say “Arizona is closed for business?” Act now and tell the members of the House of Representatives to VOTE NO on HB 2248.   TAKE ACTION NOW: Email your State Representative. Tell your elected official to vote no on HB 2248. Focus on the negative impact passing this bill will have on the regulatory certainty that companies rely on to locate, relocate or grow. Convey the impact that this will have on job creating and the growth of Arizona’s economy. You can find your elected officials email HERE.
